Keeping Up with the Kardashians NOT Being Canceled For Bruce Jenner Show, Despite Report
“Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and the famous family’s related shows are NOT getting “canceled” by E! to make way for Bruce Jenner’s upcoming series about his gender transition. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust the report, which comes from Life & Style, the same outlet that’s repeatedly published false stories about Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian splitting in recent weeks.
According to the magazine’s alleged source, “E! sees Bruce as ratings gold. KUWTK is more expensive than ever to produce, and profit margins over the last few years have been sinking big-time. The Kardashians’ TV shows are played out. It’s Bruce’s time to shine.”
The outlet’s insider says that the cancelation of the family’s flagship show because of Bruce “would be the ultimate humiliation” for Kris Jenner. How does Life & Style explain the new E! mega-deal with the Kardashians to continue making shows? The magazine’s source claims the money is not guaranteed, and that the network “can cancel their TV shows at any time.”
“E! wanted to make sure they had Kylie and Kendall [Jenner] available for Bruce’s new show,” says the Life & Style insider. “It’s a complicated deal but ultimately it doesn’t change the network’s plan to dump the faltering TV shows. And when they do, they won’t have to pay all the money to the family.”
Here’s why Life & Style actually published the story: The Kardashians have a big new contract with E!, the network is also doing a new show with Bruce Jenner, and the tabloid wanted to set up these two things as some kind of brewing conflict. It’s not. The Kardashians are still a HUGE source of revenue for E!, and there is NO plan to cancel “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” or their spin-offs. A rep for E! tells Gossip Cop exclusively, “There’s no truth to their story.”
