‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ Recap: Kim Claims Taylor Swift Lying About Kanye West ‘Famous’ Lyric
Kim Kardashian called Taylor Swift a liar on Sunday’s “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” for claiming not to have been made aware of the controversial lyric in Kanye West’s song “Famous.” Get the full episode recap below!
As the episode began, Kim addressed her nude bathroom selfie that got slammed on social media by people who felt she was objectifying her own body. Kim told the camera, “I was so proud of myself. I had gotten into such great shape, but people had such problems with it.” But she insisted, “I’ll never stop posting photos that I like of myself. If anything, I feel more empowered,” further telling her detractors, “If you’re not into what I’m posting, don’t look.”
Kim later told Scott Disick and her mom Kris Jenner about West’s plans for his “Famous” music video. “I need to brace you…. There’s nudity, technically,” Kim told them, referring to the naked celebrity wax figures featured in the video, among whom include Swift and Caitlyn Jenner. “I think he’s obsessed with Caitlyn, though,” Kris noted, to which Kim said, “He just likes people that are authentic, that do what they want to do.” But Scott then pointed out about “Bruce Jenner,” “Well, he wasn’t doing what he wanted to do his whole life,” to which Kim shot back, “Yeah, but now he is.”
Scott went on to ask Kim about the feud between West and Swift, saying that he thought the singer was told beforehand about Kanye’s “Famous” lyric: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous.” “She did, but then she was acting like she didn’t,” insisted Kim, who maintained that the singer approved the line, despite later saying she was shocked and offended by it.
Kim then added in a confessional that West had even called up Swift to ask permission to use the lyric, saying, “It was really important that he spoke to her. Kim later told Kourtney and Khloe that she had proof of Swift signing off on the lyric, noting that a “camera crew filmed [West] talking to Taylor and got the whole conversation.” “I think she got freaked out by the reaction and flipped,” Kim added about why Swift allegedly lied.
Later, Kim shot a role for Fergie’s “M.I.L.F. $” music video. West accompanied his wife to the shoot and even made suggestions about her wardrobe, which included a blonde wig and tight white t-shirt with the words “Got Milf?” on it. After filming a provocative dance scene, Fergie told Kim, You really know what you’re doing on these sexy shoots,” but she replied, “I honestly have no idea!”
Kim sat down with Kourtney and told her that she had just bashed Swift in an interview with GQ. “I never talk sh*t publicly about anyone, especially in interviews, but I have so had it,” Kim told her sister. “I just felt like I wanted to defend [West] in it.” Kim went on to tell her sister that during West and Swift’s phone call, “[Taylor] legitimately, quote, says, ‘As soon as I get on the Grammy red carpet, I’m gonna tell all the press I was in on it.’” Of course, Swift later insisted she wasn’t in on “Famous,” leading Kim to believe that the singer was finding “another way to play the victim.”
Kim then acknowledged that Kanye was wrong for interrupting Swift’s 2009 VMAs acceptance speech, but doesn’t think “he should be punished for it still to this day,” and believes it’s time for Swift to get over it. “Kanye definitely hurt her years ago when he did that,” Kim told Kourtney, “but it wasn’t meant to be personal. It could have been anyone.” In regard to Kanye saying from the stage that Beyonce should have won the award, Kim added, “We all know that ‘Single Ladies’ was the biggest song of the year. So I think when she didn’t win, he just wanted to stand up for it.” Kim further asserted that Swift knew about the “Famous” lyric, adding, “I’m just speaking the truth. [Kanye] called her and spoke to her. She even helped him rewrite it! It’s so wild.”
Trying to play peacemaker between Kim and Swift, Kris suggested, “What would happen if you just called Taylor up and said, ‘What happened? How did this go so south?’ My advice is you give Taylor a call and try to make an amends.” Kim, however, wasn’t a fan of that idea. “Thank you for your lovely advice, but I’m not gonna take it,” she shot back to her mom.
Kim further defended Kanye in a confessional, noting, “I’ve had it with people blatantly treating my husband a certain way and making him look a certain way. Kanye is always so honest and speaks his mind, and when we were first dating, everyone would talk sh*t and he always had my back…. I’ll do whatever to protect my husband.” As far as her relationship with Swift, Kim further noted, “It is what it is.”
