‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ Recap: Kim Considers Surrogate For Third Child
Kim Kardashian revealed on Sunday’s “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” that she wants a third child, but is considering using a surrogate to have the baby. Get the full episode recap below!
As the episode opened, Kim explained in a confessional that she’s hesitant to give birth to a third child because she already “had two really difficult pregnancies and deliveries,” and going through another one concerns her. Khloe brought up the idea of surrogacy, but Kim didn’t know enough about the process to have an opinion. Kim and Kris later met with a doctor to see if her body could sustain another pregnancy, and he admitted there could be some serious complications if she had another child. She later saw a fertility specialist to get a second opinion, and he agreed a third pregnancy would be “very risky,” and suggested she consider a surrogate.
When Kourtney later asked her sister if she plans on using a surrogate, Kim responded, “Obviously, I do want to have my own baby, but I truly don’t know if my body can handle it.” Kourtney then suggested she consult with someone who’s used a surrogate to find out what it’s like. Kim further admitted in a confessional she has a lot of “fears” about surrogacy, and doesn’t yet know enough about it to make a decision. Kourtney pointed out that one perk about using a surrogate is “nobody has to know” she’s pregnant. “You could have a baby for a whole year and nobody would even know,” she joked.
Later, Kim asked Khloe and Kendall if they’d help get involved with Everytown for Gun Safety, an organization advocating for gun control. Khloe was immediately on board with the idea, but Kendall was more hesitant. “I want to do this and I want to be a part of it, but it just makes me nervous what people are gonna think of it,” she explained. “You don’t know who’s going to actually be for it and who’s not.” Kendall further noted in a confessional she’s worried about the backlash she might receive for taking a side on a controversial issue, adding, “It could do more harm than good.” Kim told her not to worry about the “hate” and “stick up for what you believe in,” but Kendall was still unsure about the situation. But when Kendall later joined her sisters and mom to meet with the families of gun violence victims, she changed her mind and decided it was an important cause to get behind.
A woman named Natalie, who’s a friend of Kim’s doctor and had used a surrogate for one of her pregnancies, later visited Kim to tell her about the process. Kim explained one of her biggest fears is that she’d feel less attached to a baby she didn’t give birth to, adding, “If I had a surrogate, would I love them the same? That scares me.” But the woman assured her, “There’s not a day where I have any thought that my love for my kids are different.” After the meeting, Kim said in a confessional she felt “reassure” and had “a lot of hope,” but still needed to discuss the idea with husband Kanye West.
Kris decided to make a “legacy video” for her mom, MJ, by interviewing her about her life on camera, and asked her kids to help come up with some questions for their grandma. Kris admitted she didn’t want to make it a “sad or emotional experience” for her mom, but it was Kris who wound up getting choked up during the process. After Kris asked MJ, “What’s your biggest fear?” her mom answered, “I try not to fear,” and then threw the question right back at her daughter. Kris became very emotional and started tearing up, adding, “Why did you ask me that? I can’t believe I’m crying.” She then responded, “Just losing someone,” and added in a confessional, “This is exactly what I was afraid of.”
Kris had to stop the interview and she walked away to be alone, but Khloe went over to console her mom and tell her how lucky she was to still have MJ in her life. Kim and Kendall ended up taking over the interview while Kris pulled herself together, and began asking their grandma lighthearted questions. Kourtney and Kylie also jumped in to interview their grandma, and Kris noted in a confessional, “It’s pretty awesome to see my kids interview MJ about her life and her story, and have it on film as something that will last forever.” Kris was then able to finish the interview herself, and felt very blessed to have the opportunity to make a “legacy video” of her mom.
