Keeping Up With Kardashians Recap Kylie Birthday

Kylie Jenner celebrated her 18th birthday on Sunday’s “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” but the party took an awkward turn when tension arose between her parents Kris and Caitlyn. Get the full recap below!

The fourth episode of Season 11, titled “All Grown Up,” opened with Kourtney Kardashian breaking the news to Khloe that Kylie is throwing an 18th birthday party and they weren’t invited. “What a little bitch!,” Khloe exclaims. “I’m calling her now.” During the phone confrontation, Kylie insisted she simply hadn’t “told anybody” about the plans yet. But Khloe got even more annoyed when Kylie assumed her sisters would be available to attend the event without knowing the date. Khloe and Kourtney went on to tease their sister, pretending they both had other plans and wouldn’t be able to celebrate.

Kim discussed her pregnancy weight gain, telling her mom, “I’m 25 pounds up on the scale today, and I’m only halfway there. Last time I gained 50, but I delivered six weeks early, and they say you gain the most at the end.” Kris tried to reassure her daughter, saying, “You have to remember you’re making another human being, and that you were able to really get in the best shape of your life after your baby, and you’ll do it again.” And then Kim dropped the bombshell, “I’m just thinking about number three. Like if I have another one, that’s when I think your body starts to slip.” Kris was quite taken aback about her daughter mentioning another grandchild before the newest one was even born, exclaiming, “Number three?! Whoa! Can we just slow down and have number two?!”

Meanwhile, Caitlyn offered to let Kylie throw her party at her Malibu home, however Kylie declined the offer, saying she’d instead do something elsewhere with her friends. “I just really don’t want to deal with the drama… between you and mom,” Kylie told her father. Caitlyn went on to insist that she and Kris are “fine,” but Kylie pointed out that the two “haven’t even met” since Bruce transitioned into Caitlyn. Caitlyn became suspicious that Kylie was talking for Kris and herself, saying, “You’re 18. You can make up your own decision about what you want to do. Don’t have your mom talk you into something.” But Kylie assured her dad that wasn’t the case, further noting in a confessional, “I want both my parents at my birthday party, but I know that my mom and my dad are both struggling with their relationship, so I just don’t really want to deal with the mom-dad drama.”

Kylie then spoke with Kris about her birthday plans, and when Kris asked if she wanted to have a family, Kylie wasn’t so sure. “Between you and Caitlyn, I don’t know, you guys are weird,” Kylie said. “I’m not gonna not invite my dad, or not invite my mom, or vice versa.” But Kris insisted, “You don’t have to worry about that. Let the adults do their thing and we’ll figure it out.” She further assured her daughter, “Nothing will take the shine away from you or your birthday. We’re not that selfish.”

Later, Kim argued with Kris over their new living arrangements now that she, Kanye West and their daughter North will be staying with her during reconstruction on their mansion. Kim told her mom, “I have to figure out where the nursery will be, because I’ll definitely have the baby at your house.” A shocked Kris said, “Wait, you need another room? Can’t the baby sleep in your room?” Kris’s boyfriend Corey Gamble then chimed in and took Kim’s side, suggesting one of the rooms could be turned into the nursery, if the closet is cleaned out. “How come everyone else dictates what I do with my closets?” an annoyed Jenner asked. “Do you know I haven’t had my closets to myself in like three years?”

Kris called Caitlyn and invited her to Kylie’s birthday dinner, and Kylie later told Kendall about the plan. “I’ve never seen them interact together,” Kendall said. “It’s kind of weird.” But before the dinner, Kris went over to Caitlyn’s house to meet her for the first time. “One of the reasons I wanted to talk to you is because I didn’t want your feelings to be heard like when I heard you weren’t happy about not being invited to Kylie’s graduation.” Caitlyn went on to call it a “slap in the face,” to which Kris responded, “That’s exactly how I felt about the Vanity Fair article,” in which Caitlyn referred to her family as a “distraction.” After the uncomfortable exchange, Kris said in a confessional, “I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone as stubborn as Bruce Jenner until I met Caitlyn.” However, the two did manage to end the conversation on relatively civil terms, taking a selfie together.

Finally, the entire family met up at Nobu for Kylie’s birthday dinner, but Caitlyn was running late, and Kris started getting annoyed. “This is exactly what I wanted to avoid,” Kylie admitted in a confessional. Khloe joked, “Bruce was always on time and Caitlyn is an hour late.” When Caitlyn finally arrived, the family happily greeted her but Kris stayed quiet.

However, dinner proceeded nicely regardless, and Kris lightened up once Caitlyn complimented her earrings. Everyone began taking selfies and giving gifts to Kylie. But Kris did eventually ask, “So we need to know. Why were you late?” Caitlyn answered, “Because it’s a woman’s prerogative to be a little late,” to which Kris laughed.

In the end, everyone got along, and Kylie was happy to get to celebrate her birthday with both her mom and dad. Later that night, Kylie hit up the club with her friends and boyfriend Tyga. As the episode ended, Kylie exited the club to see that Tyga had bought her a Ferrari and had it wrapped in a bow waiting outside for her.
