The Kardashian sisters went on a trip to Cuba on Sunday’s “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” Get the full episode recap below!
Kim, Kourtney and Khloe decided to go with Kendall Jenner to her Chanel fashion show in Cuba for the chance to visit the once-restricted country. The girls invited mom Kris to join them on the vacation, but the momager declined due to the lack of technology available in the country. Kris noted they wouldn’t have access to the internet or cell phones, but Kim asked, “We’re with our whole family, who needs to call anyone?” She responded, “I’m not going to Cuba if there’s no communication. I have work to do.” Kim tried to persuade her mom by insisting the trip is “gonna be legendary,” adding, “It’s gonna be so much fun and I heard the sangria is to die for.” Kris, however, had no interest in going to Cuba, and further expressed in a confessional she felt “very anxious about not being able to communicate with [the girls] while they’re gone.” A last-minute scheduling change then caused Kendall to pull out of the Cuba show, but her sisters decided to still go since they had already booked the trip.
Also tagging along for the historic trip were Kim’s husband Kanye West and daughter North, Kourtney’s kids Mason, Penelope and Reign, and Khloe’s best friend Malika. “I’m so excited to witness such a piece of history,” Kourtney said shortly after the group landed in the nation, which only became open to American tourists in 2015. Khloe and and Malika took a tour around Havana in a 1957 red Chevy convertible, and waved to everyone in town. “I love so many things about Cuba,” Khloe noted in a confessional. “I love that there’s history and culture. People are outside and they’re walking the streets and everyone is enjoying other people.”
Later, the whole group visited an art studio in Havana that was dedicated to music and film, and then took a ride around the countryside in a pink convertible. Kanye was amazed by the architecture and excited by all of the “weird colors” on the city’s walls and buildings, saying, “The whole city is very Yeezy… I need to shoot a music video out here!” The adults then went to a rum distillery to have drinks and smoke Cuban cigars, but Khloe had trouble staying in the moment and enjoying herself because she had heard from friends that Lamar Odom was struggling back in Los Angeles. “It’s hard to see Khloe so stressed out,” Kim said in a confessional.
Kim and Kourtney later visited iconic author Ernest Hemingway’s former home, which has now been turned into a museum. “I read The Old Man and the Sea in high school,” Kourtney said while their car pulled up to the house. She further said in a confessional, “We’re excited just because we studied and read Ernest Hemingway and it’s cool to see how people lived.” After the tour, Kim said in an on-camera interview, “This house is so cool. It’s such a part of Cuban history,” but she was upset that Khloe was too distracted by her problems with Lamar to join them. “I wish Khloe could see this,” Kim added. “I just want her to live life and enjoy herself and not worry about it all.”
