Katy Perry Performs “Roar” And “Firework” At Hillary Clinton Rally In Iowa (VIDEO)
Katy Perry fired up a crowd of 4,000 Hillary Clinton supporters in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday by performing her hits “Firework” and “Roar,” which the Democratic frontrunner has been playing at a number of her events on the campaign trail. In addition to singing, Perry explained to those at the rally why she supports Clinton. Watch the videos below.
Perry was introduced by former president Bill Clinton, who kept his remarks about his wife brief and noted, “I’ve never been the warm-up act for Katy Perry before, but I am well aware that I am the warm-up act.” And with that, the singer came out wearing a white dress with a blue-and-red “H” pinned on it and an American flag cape. Perry told the enthusiastic crowd that Hillary Clinton, who will be vying for votes at the Iowa Causcus on February 1, is “my firework” before launching into her hits “Firework” and “Roar.”
The singer also explained to the crowd why she’s supporting Clinton. She said, “I stand and I march with Hillary. I believe in her future, her vision. I believe in her policies. I believe in equal rights for men, women, pay.”
Clinton herself came onstage at the end and, playing off Perry’s song, told her supporters, “Sometimes it’s important, you just have to roar about what you need to fight for.” Check out the videos below of Perry performing, as well as Bill and Hillary Clinton’s remarks at the Des Moines rally, and tell Gossip Cop what you think.
