OK! Apologizes To Katy Perry For False “Pregnant” Story Gossip Cop Busted
Katy Perry has gotten a correction and apology from OK! after the magazine printed a cover story falsely claiming she was pregnant and planning a wedding to John Mayer. Back on February 18, Gossip Cop was the first outlet to debunk the story. On Monday, OK! finally got around to telling the truth. In a series of tweets, the tabloid offered this statement:
In the March 2, 2015 print edition of OK! Magazine, we wrongly stated that Katy Perry was pregnant, and that she was planning a wedding. We acknowledge that Ms. Perry is not pregnant, and she is not planning a wedding. We regret the mistake and sincerely apologize to Ms. Perry for publishing the error. We also apologize for including paparazzi photos of Ms. Perry that had been taken with a long lens while she was having a private function at her home.
Perry retweeted the OK! tweets, and then wrote, “REMEMBER these magazines are fiction designed for entertainment. NO ONE speaks for me. Instead let the previous tweets speak for themselves.” Gossip Cop has been calling out the tabloids for their weekly fictions since we launched, and we’ll continue to bust made-up stories like this one. We only wish OK! and its ilk would report responsibly in the first place instead of being forced to issue embarrassing corrections.
