The annual ball, which is held in New York City every first Monday of May, helps raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. The prestigious event is one of the most exclusive fashion parties in the world, with this year’s hosts including Perry, Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen, Pharrell Williams and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who’s served as a chairperson for more than 20 years.

At last year’s gala, Perry wore a black velvet Prada gown with gold enameled collage embroidery, and also carried around a Tamagotchi, the digital pet that was one of the biggest fads of the ’90s. In 2015, the singer rocked a Moschino dress and carried a purse shaped like a pill bottle. Perry sported a

cathedral-themed Dolce & Gabbana dress and crown for 2013’s gala. And in

2010, she wore a pink Cute Circuit dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

This year’s theme is “Rei Kawakubo/Comme de Garcon: Art of the In-Between,” which showcases unconventional and highly stylized avant garde pieces. It remains to be seen how Perry will represent the theme at Monday night’s event, but she teased Sunday on Instagram, “Never forget where you came from! Last year was @prada at The Met… wait and see who it will be tomorrow.” Check out a photo gallery below of Perry’s Met Gala outfits over the years!
