Katy Perry Calls For Change After Mall Shooting: “This Is Getting Embarrassing”
Katy Perry spoke out after Saturday’s deadly shooting at a shopping mall in Columbia, Maryland, expressing frustration with gun violence and wondering when change will come. The incident left three people killed (including the suspected gunman) and five others injured, according to police.
It happened after the shooter opened fire in a skate shop at the mall about 20 miles west of Baltimore; two of the shop’s employees were shot fatally. Perry took to Twitter a few hours later. She was among the many celebrities who voiced her opinions about the shooting.
Perry wrote in a series of messages, “Is anyone else really sad about the constant stream of shootings and how normal it’s becoming to see these headlines on a weekly basis?” She followed up that tweet with another that asked, “Scared to go to school? Scared to go to the mall? Scared to go to the movies? Me too. When will there be ACTUAL change? How many more?!
The singer concluded her Twitter rant by expressing, “You and I both know this is getting embarrassing…My heart goes out to ALL the victims & their families this week. I pray for change.” What do you think about Perry’s tweets?
