Katy Perry Defends The Kardashians: They Are “Completely Valid” – WATCH VIDEO!
Katy Perry says the Kardashian family’s contributions to pop culture are “completely valid.” Watch below.
“I was thinking the other day, we’ve all had our own commentary on the ‘Kardashians,’ but if Kardashians’ hadn’t existed, there wouldn’t have been the fantastic Bruce Jenner, who is just evolving everyone right now with all of his wonderfulness,” Perry told “Entertainment Tonight,” referring to the Olympian’s public transition from male to female. “So the Kardashians, in my book, are completely valid.”
Perry, speaking on the red carpet of Monday’s Met Gala, also joked about her “Kris Jenner haircut,” and revealed she is the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch’s “biggest fan”. “Listen, Kris Jenner is very important to me,” said the pop star. “And that is not sarcastic at all. She has a great sense of humor and she’s kind of like the mother of everyone.”
Inside the Met Gala, Perry got to hang out with not only Kris, but also Kim Kardashian, after spending time with both stars during Paris Fashion Week in March (see photo above). The singer, however, was disappointed that Bruce himself wasn’t in attendance for fashion’s biggest night. She tweeted the night of the event, “I wish Bruce Jenner was debuting his fabulousness on the carpet at #TheMetBall tonight #itwouldbeeverything!!!”
Watch Perry’s interview below, with the Kardashian comments at the 35-second mark. Do you agree that the family’s contributions to American pop culture are “valid”?
