Katie Holmes “The View” Video: I’m “Really Blessed” To Have “Sweet” Daughter Suri
Katie Holmes spoke about playing Jackie Kennedy and raising daughter Suri on “The View” on Wednesday. Watch below!
Holmes appeared on the ABC talk show to promote “The Kennedys: After Camelot,” a Reelz miniseries in which she continues her portrayal of the former First Lady. Asked about taking on such a big role, the actress shared, “I’ve done a lot of research, obviously. This time around, the Kennedy tapes are out there, so I go to hear her voice and feel her essence. She was so charming, but not a fool, knew exactly what was going on.”
“Her strength is something I am continually amazed by,” Holmes continued, adding, “This woman went through so much in the public eye and did it with such grace.” She pointed out, “While this family lives in such heightened circumstances and they’re so famous and glamorous, what they go through is very relatable… You take away the First Lady aspect and the fame aspect, and it’s just a family that’s gone through a lot but they always stick together and get through it together.”
Holmes was also asked about her own family and her look-alike daughter, who will turn 11 next month. She told the co-hosts, “I’m the baby of five. I have a lot of cousins. I’m the youngest grandchild on the home side. So I have an amazing family and we are always in Ohio. I’m really proud of my nieces and nephews. So I raise my child like my sisters raised their children and how I was raised. I love being a parent and I feel really blessed to have such a sweet little girl.”
During a “round of rapid-fire questions,” Holmes was queried about everything from the last thing she bought online to what she’d do if she wasn’t acting and directing. She revealed she’d be a lawyer, and “hopefully working in Washington to better our situation.” But when Joy Behar suggested Holmes could play Melania Trump on screen, the star amusingly said she was “not taking” the bait.
