Katie Holmes and Suri cooled off from the New York City heat at an ice cream shop on Tuesday, while Tom Cruise spent his 50th birthday in California.

Holmes was spotted smiling and laughing as she and her six-year-old hit up Sundaes and Cones in the East Village with friends.

On Wednesday, the “Dawson’s Creek” alum spoke publicly for the first time since filing for divorce from Cruise, telling a reporter, “I’m alright.”

As Gossip Cop exclusively reported, Holmes is divorcing Cruise over disagreements about Suri’s education and upbringing.
