Katie Holmes to Play ‘Slutty Pumpkin’ on “How I Met Your Mother”

It’s only September, but Katie Holmes already knows what she’ll be dressing as for Halloween this year.
Holmes will guest-star on “How I Met Your Mother” next month as a character named Slutty Pumpkin, a girl whom Ted (Josh Radnor) became instantly smitten with at a Halloween party back during the show’s first season, and whose number he lost without ever discovering her real name.
Slutty Pumpkin is “the one that got away” for Ted, who returns to the same Halloween party every year in the hope of finding the mysterious woman.
HIMYM’s creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays are excited to finally unveil the character, who they say has been “literally six seasons in the making.”
“Katie is a lovely and talented actress, which is why we’ve saved for her perhaps the most classily named character in our show’s history,” Thomas told Vulture.
