Katie Holmes Used Disposable Cell Phone to Hide Divorce Plans From Tom Cruise

Truth rating: 9

Katie Holmes was able to secretly mastermind her divorce from Tom Cruise by reportedly using a disposable phone.

The actress’ plans and contact with divorce lawyers were completely hidden from Cruise and his team because she carefully orchestrated them with the help of a cell phone she could simply throw away at will.

The phone was provided by a friend, according to a source for the Los Angeles Times.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Cruise was blindsided when Holmes filed for divorce nearly two weeks ago.

The former couple announced on Monday that they had reached a settlement, agreeing on custody and support terms for their 6-year-old daughter, Suri.

Holmes will reportedly have primary custody, with significant control over Suri’s education as well as the role religion will play in her life — two of the issues that were key reasons for the split.

If she was going to such lengths to hide her divorce plans, it really makes you wonder what was going on within the relationship. I hope they all find a little peace now.

Way to end a marriage. BUt they had a contract? So why all this “battles” …

  • Cynthia McCain

it makes me laugh that she’s still a “believer”… how is it that much of a stretch to think that there are thetans if you’re willing to believe that a cracker and a bit of wine actually BECOME the flesh and blood of a guy who (supposedly) died 2000 years ago? It’s all ridiculous. I hope that the agreement means that suri doesn’t have to get indoctrinated into EITHER or ANY of these cults… because the christian cult of self loathing isn’t much better than what tommy-girl believes.

  • Lindsey

They sure swept this under the rug very quickly.. makes you wonder what he’s got to hide, then?

HELLO SATAN..HOW FOOLISH OF YOU TO THINK I WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE.
NOW BE GONE IT NAME OF MY SON JESUS!

  • Lori

That’s exactly what I was thinking. How sad that it appears all of her movements were monitored and she had to get a “burner phone” like a drug dealer to orchestrate her escape. The more I hear about this, the more impressed I am. She really took charge of the situation and covered her bases to protect herself and Suri. Also, for once, the media circus worked in her favor. She never even had to say a word. The media jumped on the Scientology angle from the start and likely had a HUGE impact on the quick settlement agreement.

On a side note, I don’t think Tom Cruise is a bad guy. I think it’s sad that he got so wrapped up in Scientology and I really hope that he comes to his senses some day soon. It’s all a bit scary, in my opinion, and it truly does sound like a cult who’s practices have no basis in anything other than the ravings of a delusional (though highly intelligent) man. I don’t know if Tom’s family practices Scientology, but I hope they don’t and I hope they make every attempt to “rescue” him (and never stop trying). It’s really difficult to change someone’s beliefs if they have held them for a long time, though. Sad.

Well, in the light of latest developments, I would not be surprised at all if those ppl following Katie and Suri and trying to hide themselves were in fact scientologists.

At least a person can leave the Catholic church without fear of being kidnapped/tortured/killed. I chose to stop attending Catholic church when I was 15 and, aside from my parents disappointment, I never suffered any adverse reactions.

  • tomkatnomore

For her to go to that length makes me wonder how controlling Tom was. Her plan has all the typical signs of what a battered woman goes through to escape from her tormentor. A secret phone, moving out secretly…I hope she can get her life and her identity back. And I hope she’s not scared anymore.

  • Cynthia McCain

that’s a good point… although I do think that a lot of these scientology stories are overblown… since I am friends with someone who used to be one, and was an auditor. I just laugh when people make fun of it … when if you stand outside and look at all these religions, they are ALL whacky.

  • Cynthia McCain

ohhhhhhhhhhhh so scared!! watch out Sauron is after you!!! with his buddies Voldemort and Darth Sidious!!!

  • Crackerparty1971

That is absolutely spot on!!!! X

  • tufudu

Wow! Katie must have been scared out of her wits to have done all that and keep that little girl close to her the way she did and does. Evidently, she has something on Tom to get all that she is getting out of the divorce.

  • Sarah

Clearly Katie Holmes was scared of him. You don’t go to such great lengths to get out of a marriage if you don’t need to. The way this went down is very similar to how abused women have to leave their husbands. It’s not as simple as packing up and telling him your leaving, you have to plan on how to get away safely. Even if there was a contract she probably had no idea what was in store for her when she met and fell for Tom Cruise. Yes she knew he was a Scientologist but at that time she had no child to think off and she probably had no idea of the practices that this cult uses on children. The world is not black and white, no one marries a person thinking that they will have to go to such great lengths to get out of the marriage or to keep their child safe.

  • Sarah

It’s becoming pretty clear how unsafe she must of felt. In a non abusive marriage no one has to go to such secrecy to leave. People seem to think that unless a person has bruises that they are not being abused but that’s simply not the case. Mental and emotional abuse is still abuse. Not even having the freedom to call someone without being watched is abuse in my opinion.

  • Sarah

She obviously has a lot on him.

  • Jennifer

Probably, and I think we can start with is that child really his? If it is, was it as a result of in vitro? I didn’t used to give much credence to the rumors, but a lot has come out about him and his previous marriages and relationships because of this.

His first wife has made no bones about saying the Cruise was just not into being intimate with her.

His second marriage, they adopted, Cruise blamed Kidman for no kids, but she has had no trouble conceiving with her new husband.

Now this marriage and one kid in 7 years that looks like the mother, but doesn’t look much like him? And he gives up shared custody without a fight? Not normal, particularly if you are a die-hard CoS and want your kids raised that way. Gotta wonder…

In any event, this thing blew up so badly in the media and with so much negative reaction from literally EVERYONE, I think the CoS told him to settle and settle fast and get it out of the headlines. Not sure that will work. The media will be on this story for quite a while, I’m thinking.

  • GaPeach

I am glad she came to her senses. I suspect she has proof of something signifcant that the COS doesn’t want revealed about Tom. Hopefully her “people” have the means to keep her safe from the cult.

    COS is scary and ruthless.

Don’t forget that Tom’s first wife was significantly older than he was, so perhaps that accounts for his lack of interest in her physically (personally I have never heard that one before). Also, his second wife supposedly had an abortion without his knowledge or consent and that is what broke the second marriage up. The first wife introduced Tom to CoS but CoSt was part of what broke up marriages 2 and 3. I do agree that the church urged Tom to settle this divorce and settle quickly, as the negative publicity about the church wasn’t about to go away.

I often also wondered why Katie kept that little girl in the public eye so much while the tabloids still had a ball with scrutinizing her. When we saw Katie, we saw Suri seemingly not trying to avoid the paps. Now I am beginning to wonder whether it was for the little girl’s safety and hers. To me, there was something strange about that.

  • Renee

Good point. We’ve spent years now seeing Katie mother Suri, with Tom showing up in the pictures a small percentage of the time. To the public (and to me) it seems that Katie is Suri’s primary parent. It just makes sense for Suri to mainly be with Katie, and I think public opinion of Tom would have turned vicious if Katie didn’t get primary custody.

So maybe the allowance of all those pictures of Katie & Suri were deliberate. We’ll never know.

  • Jackie

I dont believe for a minute that katie was afraid of tom. Her father was right there with her all the time and I understand he was getting hourly reports on her from the bodyguards that he hired. Katie has kept in close touch with her family. I am amazed at how devious Katie Holmes is. I saw the smirk on her face after she left Tom and all the photographers were chasing her. She loves the attention and wants it to continue because she’s going to be making movies.
