CLAIM: Katie Holmes Got $100,000 Makeover After Tom Cruise Divorce

“Newly single Katie Holmes is determined to reinvent herself as a Manhattan socialite, dropping an astonishing $100,000 for a complete head-to-toe makeover,” reports the National Enquirer.

A “close pal” tells the tabloid that the actress “is revamping her look, style and attitude in order to jump-start her career and love life.”

“Her attitude is: ‘Look out New York, Katie’s back in the game!’” declares the source.

And how is Holmes allegedly reinventing herself following her divorce from Tom Cruise?

With a shopping spree, says the Enquirer!

“She splurged on nearly $15,000 worth of sexy lingerie and undergarments alone,” claims the supposed friend. “She also bought 15 pairs of pricey designer Christian Louboutin shoes and went on a tear at Barneys New York department store, buying a closet’s worth of clingy cocktail dresses and power suits to wear to auditions and meetings.”

Any more made-up quotes?

Holmes is said to have “bought $4,800 worth of cosmetics and hired a personal trainer for $10,000 a month,” says the tab, and also “five really expensive watches as well as necklaces, earrings and bracelets.”

“Katie is willing to shell out whatever it takes to reclaim her fabulous looks and personality and relaunch her career,” announces her “pal.”

Uh-huh.

While it’s certainly true Holmes is looking for a fresh start post-divorce – like every single newly divorced person ever – this “$100,000 makeover” story is complete b.s.

Here’s what happened: The Enquirer picked a nice, round, ridiculous, eye-grabbing sum and then worked backwards, having Holmes’ “close pal” fill in fake details about exorbitant shopping trips.

What Holmes has actually been doing since her marriage ended is spending time with daughter Suri, taking her to ballet classes, the zoo, her Ohio hometown mall and lots of other places that don’t sell Louboutins.

A source tells Gossip Cop the Enquirer’s tale is “ridiculous” and 100% “untrue.”

Of course, that’s nothing new for the tabloid, which has spilled oceans of ink in recent weeks on inflammatory stories about Holmes, Cruise and Suri that serve only to make the Enquirer look pathetic.
