Katie Holmes Believes She’s Being Followed By Scientology Members?

Truth rating: 1

(GettyImages)

Katie Holmes reportedly believes that members of the Church of Scientology are following her because they fear she poses a threat.

In the weeks leading up Holmes’ split from Tom Cruise, “There have been several ‘mysterious’ men and vehicles around Katie’s apartment and following her when she’s out,” claims TMZ.

Of course, the cars more likeyl belong to tabloid photographers and reporters, trying to tail the actress who recently secretly rented another apartment in New York.

Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for Holmes.

We’re told the Church of Scientology denies following Holmes.

If it is true. Katie Team has to Call the police!!!!

Another website had actually brought this up weeks ago. They supposedly noticed suspicious looking vehicles in many candid shots in the last couple months. I guess they’re saying that it can’t be the paparazzi because whoever is “following” her is trying to be sure that they aren’t seen. The pap usually dont care who knows they’re around.

A friend actually told me that she read about this, so I can’t be sure that they have actually “investigated” this.

I wouldn’t be surprised by anything at this point. If she comes close to winning custody I’m willing to bet something “mysterious” will happen to Katie for Tom to use to prove she is an unfit mother. She’ll all of a sudden develop a drug/alcohol problem, or they’ll say she’s a cheater, or something will happen that puts the kid at risk.

  • Anonymous

She probably is being followed, I wouldn’t be shocked. Tom Cruise is already trying to get the case moved to California.

You know, I think this is the first time I have seen GC give a story, 5 on the rumor stick. Sounds like no one knows what to believe here.

  • Janet

If I was Katie, I’d take Suri and get the heck out of Dodge. Those COS freaks are capable of anything.

  • D. Martin

I don’t know a whole lot about that church. Is it a church? A religion? Or just a “way of life” — a way of thinking? Don’t know. But,,,are they that bad? They follow people?

  • Krissu

So far I don’t even pretend to know what happened between those two.
But it does seem that whatever it was, it was deeper then just one getting tired of the other.

This story getting 5 stars from Gossip Cop speaks volumes. I wondered why the heck would Katie seek full custody over Suri…. now I am not surprised anymore.

  • Krissu

As far as I understand Scientology is a religion, its more then way of life.
I remember I heard an interview with one former scienotolgist, who said that it is almost impossible to step out of that religion, he basically had to change his name and disappear. Unfortunately I wasn’t that interested in that interview and about 5 min later I changed the channel, but…. what I heard was not pretty.

Anyone who wants to know about the COS should read this. It’s some scary stuff.

I wouldn’t be surprised if its true. Annoyed, angered and other unpleasant emotions but not surprised.

why should this suprise anyone ? the scientologists have a long and sordid history of harrassment (and worse) of anyone who tries to leave the cult or report on the organization in any way other than positively.

  • Chris

D…..Scientology is by IRS a religion, but if you do a little looking it’s pretty scary what they believe. It’s all about money, the more money you give the more “saved” you are. Really sad people believe this stuff.

  • Chris

Scientology is horrible fraud. They use scare tactics and lawsuits to shut up those who oppose them. John Travolta is another famous gullible victim of this “religion”

    Tweets From Suri:
    My dad is very controlling.
    About everything.
When we play Monopoly he would always
force my mom to be the thimble.

She probably is being followed by them! It’s always hard to break free of a cult, in my opinion that is exactly what Scientology is. If I were her, I wouldn’t be letting Suri out of my sight.

  • neil

GC has changed the rating on the gossip meter for this story. But the blurb seems unchanged; no accompanying update…….Considering the players involved in this story one needs to be careful I guess, right GC?

  • D. Martin

I read the whole thing. A very detailed interview. You’re right….scary.

  • Anonymous

In a documentary I saw, the reporter/host was followed and filmed by members of Scientology, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they were doing the same thing to her. What does surprise me, is that she got involved with scientology in the first place!

This child deserves the religion of her choice – or not to have a religion at all. She is too young to exercise that right – and obviously, given the possessive, aggressive religion Tom Cruise follows, only her mother can honestly protect her interests. Thinking people can see that clearly – but will the legal system in New York – or LA?

  • Stephanie

She has to have a body guard, why doesn’t that person walk up to the vehicles and ask wtf is going on, why are you hanging outside this specific apt?

  • Anonymous

It’s kind of like being in an evil sorority, or getting jumped into a gang You pay to have friends and if you try to leave they kill you (emotionally, and professionally not really).

  • Anonymous

Of course they’re going to deny it. They’ve been known to follow members in the past trying to break free of them though. Look at the way Katie always had a Scientology chaperone with her no matter where she went. You can bet they are following her.

  • Jennifer

CoS is a typical religous cult. They depend upon separating “members” from any kind of outside influence or support so that they become completely dependent upon the cult for everything. Eventually, escape becomes virtually impossible because the *member* (victim) has nowhere to go and no one to turn to who isn’t part of CoS. It’s classic.

Fortunately, Holmes has family, friends and business contacts outside of CoS and hasn’t been in it as long as some. I do think Cruise and other CoS members will do everything in their power to keep custody of the child. I expect we will soon see some type of effort being made to discredit Holmes or worse. This is a very high profile case that will not reflect well on CoS and the gloves will be off.

As I said last night, the scientologists are not that stupid to follow her around. They more than likely are journalists, because there is BIG MONEY in stories like this. BIG, BIG MONEY!!! Remember what happened to Princess Di because of them following her??? This is all figured into all of the publicity. Do not believe even half of what you read nowadays! Most of it is just HOGWASH to get people to read it!!!

  • Brenda

This is probably the only time to ever be grateful for the constant presence of the papz. I hope they have all the exits & entrances covered 24/7. None of us really know if there is a threat, but better safe than sorry.I think Katie is going to have to be very strong.

  • Anonymous

I have heard that the church of scientology can get very nasty with followers who step out of line, like those who decide to talk to the media about what really goes on behind closed doors. the church gets a lot of money from its members and they wont let anything jeopardize that.

  • Guest

Well said….and I totally agree with you. Katie, watch out girl!

  • Guest

But don’t they have Scientology people in every country in the world? Where could she go to be totally safe?

  • Guest

I also clicked the link and read every word of the story in the New Yorker magazine. It was really interesting if you are looking for info on the Church of Scientology and is something everyone should read, especially if they are going to comment on the COS. But I agree with Janet and D. Martin. It is the most frightening thing I have ever read. To think that people can get away with this kind of behaviour in this day and age. I can definitely understand why Katie wanted Suri to be as far away from this as possible. And look at Tom’s other kids….do they ever see Nicole? Tom has made sure they are indoctrinated into his beliefs. I do not bear any ill will towards Tom. I have enjoyed his acting and have thought he tried hard to be a good person. He is however brainwashed by COS and I truly am afraid to death for Katie and Suri.

  • Rikkeegan

I was in a cult for 18 years & its scary how insidiously they slowly brainwash you. COS is what’s considered a dangerous cult since they intimidate & try to ruin those that leave. After I left I did extensive research on cults & mind control. The article in the New York magazine did a lengthy article on Scientology & they have the financial resources to go after ex-members & make their lives miserable. Its very scary what they can do & still be protected under our freedom of religion laws.
My best to Katie for finally having the courageto escape that control freak Tom Cruise.
I do think he’s an egomaniac who loves the power of total control. She needs an attorney who is familiar with cults for sure!!

  • KnowledgeIsPower

Katie bears a strong resemblance to Salma Hayek in this picture. Never noticed before.

  • Faye

I’ve done research and have noticed that many times, when a scientology supporter is asked a question about LRH/Scientology, they either avoid answering the question and say other information that has nothing to do with the question OR they offer up COS rhetoric. This has been especially proven so when you ask them about their policies where members have to disavow/disassociate from family members/friends who are non-COS believers.

  • Samdetray11

Katie needs to move back to Toledo Ohio and go into hiding for a bit.

I was in LA in “88″, their Head Quarters was off the 101 on Franklin and Gower? 6 months goes by and I’ve never seen anyone on the grounds and it was beautiful and tranquil. Trees overhanging, picnic style chairs, and birds, squirrels, and periodically a skuck. I decided to read L. Ron Hubbard’s book and it’s nothing like a Bible or Koran, it’s just one man’s view on how people should live their lives. It’s not a Religion, It was a long time ago, but I don’t recall being asked to worship an all mighty deity. It seemed more like, I’ve tried to avoid the word but there’s no other way, a cult. They didn’t like my questions so needless to say they asked me to vacate the property.

The scariest words Tom said to Matt Lauer. “I know Psychiatry (without a Medical Degree), you don’t”. “I know Psychology, you don’t”. My wife sitting next to me trying to close this page, she’s a General Surgeon. OK, gotta go…peace out
