Katie Holmes Hinted About “New Phase” Weeks Before Tom Cruise Divorce

An interview Katie Holmes gave to Elle magazine just weeks before filing to divorce Tom Cruise may have hinted at the decision.

In the cover profile, Holmes appears to indicate a desire to escape the long shadow cast by her husband’s fame.

“He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years,” the actress tells the magazine. “I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that.”

Holmes goes on to say, “Things are not handed to anyone. If anything, you work a little bit harder when you’re in such visible circumstances.”

As for how she’s matured since her 20s, when “it’s like you’re trying too hard to figure everything out,” the 33-year-old actress tells Elle, “I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin. I feel sexier.”

She adds, “I’m starting to come into my own. It’s like a new phase.”

Those words certainly strike a chord given the past week’s developments.

The issue hits newsstands on July 17.

    Katie is, and always has been, a natural beauty. I suspect there was far less photoshopping going on here than in many covers on the stands right now. She’s just wearing more makeup and a push-up bra. She looks fantastic!

    There are many show biz people involved in Scientology. If her career suffers, it could be that the power brokers in Hollywood have the ability to sabotage her attempts to get quality roles. Nicole Kidman, however, went on to become much more successful after she split from TC. I wish Katie well.

    There has to be a reason why she was secretly talking to an attorney long before this became public information ,either she was afraid of him, or she was afraid he would take Suri from her. If his actions in most interviews are an indication…he would be controlling with her and Suri as well. He wanted a much younger woman for some reason?????? I definitely believe, that the man should be the head of the house and family, but head of the family does not mean a controlling “tyrant”.

    What hell did katie holmes go thru?? She was 28 when she married him and certainly no little kid since she had been in hollywood for awhile. If she hadnt married Tom she would have faded away ages ago. She did this on his birthday and shows how lacking in class she really is. Tom didnt use her, she used him. She plotted and planned and when you think about its scary what kind of person she really is. She didnt go home to her parents, but hired nine bodyguards for her and Suri and just how would he have harmed her or Suri?? Anyhow katie is 33 years old and will get a handsome settlement. I dont see her ever being an A-list actress as she cant act. Nicole Kidman is a terrific actress and so is Penelope Cruz and both have gone on with their lives without any problems with Tom. And no, I’m not being mean hateful or jealous, just saying what I see.

    If you are a good actress or the public is willing to pay good money to see you, then hollywood can be very forgiving. Its all about money. No one will bother to sabotage katie holmes.

I “love Tom’s movies” and like Katie’s fashion, other then that i don’t give a rat’s ass what they do. It didn’t work out for them to bad for Suri.     Look up Katie Holmes on beach in a bikini, one just taken while she was out with Suri playing in the surf. I do think she is a pretty girl, just tired of them all being photoshopped to look thinner, bustier, smoother skin and the list goes on. Sorry it true, she is not as busty as the cover indicates. Not dissing her natural beauty, but the cover does not show her “natural beauty”.
