CLAIM: Katie Holmes “Marriage Torture” Has Led Her to Mull Divorce

Just days after Katie Holmes filed a lawsuit against Star magazine for its outrageously wrong reporting, corporate sister National Enquirer is piling on with dubious claims about the actress’ marriage.

Holmes “has been living such a tortured life with Tom Cruise,” alleges the Enquirer, “that pals are urging the actress to get a divorce.”

The tabloid quotes a so-called “insider” as saying that Holmes is “at the end of her rope” and is “just not the same happy, carefree woman she used to be.”

Explains the tabloid’s source, “She’s losing weight and trying to keep her slipping career together while being pressured to have another child by Tom,” all while coping with recent controversy over the Church of Scientology and a supposedly “strained relationship” with Cruise’s older daughter Bella.

“There are plenty of days when she wishes she could have her carefree single life back,” continues the Enquirer source. “I think that’s when thoughts of divorce probably flare up.”

Wait, it’s bad enough that Holmes is contemplating divorce?

“It must be miserable at times,” observes the “insider.”

Actually, it’s probably “miserable” for Holmes to read about how horrible her life supposedly is in the press each week. After all, if Holmes gained weight, the Enquirer would use that as evidence of her supposed misery as well.

In any case, the mag’s portrayal of the actress as no longer “carefree” is characteristically fact free. Holmes was photographed just yesterday looking positively smitten with Cruise on the set of Mission: Impossible 4 in Vancouver.

If that’s not enough, a rep for Holmes assures Gossip Cop that this marriage doom and gloom from the Enquirer is “false.”

Of course, the Enquirer itself doesn’t even have the stomach to stand by its own premise, concluding that “despite it all, [Holmes and Cruise] really do want the marriage to work out,” and have agreed “to wait before taking any drastic steps such as filing for divorce.”

How convenient.

    I don’t know what photo you’re looking at, but she’s far from “positively smitten” with him. It looks like someone who is trying her best to look smitten since cameras are around. And what else would you expect her rep to say? Are you perhaps in the Scientology fraternity Gossip Cop??

    definately written by someone in scientology. she just may be the thing that brings tom cruise down and maybe even scientology. they totally under-estimated her and she has the public on her side. so much for cruise-control.

    Normally I support/endorse shared parenting as a Divorce Coach as being in the best interest of the child absent any special circumstances to warrant a different decision. Issues such as alcohol/drug, criminal history etc. In this particular instance I support Katie Holmes filing for sole custody. Tom Cruise has already demonstrated with his divorce from Nicole Kidman that he will not support continued and frequent contact and emotional bonding between the children and the other parent.

    And because past behavior is the best indicator to future behavior, Holmes team of family support, and legal advice rightly determined that she too would follow in the footsteps of Kidman if she did not file for sole custody.

    Now before any one stands up and screams another man hater, let me say that if the position was reversed and Katie Holmes had previously been married and her former spouse had little to no contact with the children, I would take the same position in support of Tom Cruise.
