Kathy Griffin Did NOT Stage “Phony Fall” On “Late Late Show,” Despite Report
Kathy Griffin did not stage a fall down a flight of stairs while making her entrance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” despite a new report. Gossip Cop can help correct this claim. Griffin herself tweeted on Thursday that the story is “not true.”
According to the National Enquirer, Griffin supposedly engineered a “phony publicity stunt” during her June 16 appearance on CBS late-night talk show. A so-called “‘Late Late’ Spy” told the tabloid, “Flabbergasted host James Corden watched in dismay as Kathy – making her entrance to the stage by coming down the stairs through the audience – suddenly tumbled in a shocking fall.” The magazine’s supposed source added that the producers of the ‘Late Late Show’ were angry and forced Griffin to reshoot her entrance, but she insisted they keep the fake fall in. Ultimately, alleges the Enquirer, Griffin reshot her entrance sans fall.
Interesting story but untrue, says Griffin herself. There was no comedic tumble that needed to be reshot. Griffin tweeted, “Unfortunately, this story is NOT true.” And while she didn’t like the tabloid’s inaccurate report, Griffin very much appreciated the article’s accompanying picture. She tweeted, “admit it, my hair/make-up and body look slammin in this photo!!!”
