Katherine Webb: People Say I’m The “Anti-Kim Kardashian” Due To ‘Morals’ & ‘Class’

Katherine Webb is enjoying her newfound fame, but don’t confuse her with Kim Kardashian.

The beauty queen, who dates University of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, became a media sensation this week after announcer Brent Musburger pointed her out in the stands during college football’s BCS National Championship Game.

Now it’s been revealed that Webb, 2012′s Miss Alabama, will appear in the upcoming Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

During an interview with the outlet, Webb expressed her gratitude for the exposure — and name-checked Kardashian in a not-so-flattering way.

Asked whether she immediately said yes to the magazine’s offer, Webb replied, “Oh, my gosh. Absolutely. I’ve been approached by different publications, but I think a lot of America appreciated how classy I was, and I got a lot of responses saying I was America’s sweetheart and all that kind of stuff.”

She continued, “I’m from Alabama and I have morals and I have class. That’s my personality. A lot of people have said I’m the anti-Kim Kardashian and I’m all right with that.”

When the interviewer pointed out that Kardashian has “done all right for herself,” Webb responded, “She made herself into who she is and that’s fine and all that. But I guess the way I want to go about all this is, I just want to have a positive image for myself.”

She added, “I want girls to be able to look up to me and to say, ‘I want to be just like her one day.’ That’s what I did as Miss Alabama and I loved that.”

    Being from Alabama doesn’t automatically mean you have morals or class and pulling someone else down in order to make yourself look better is far from being classy. Having a totally different outlook on life and having grown up in a different family environment doesn’t mean you’re the anti-Kim Kardashian. I don’t think anyone calls her that, I think she just wanted her name out there more & she succeeded.

    Although I’d have to agree that KK does not have class, I feel a little strange about someone that says that they have class.

    Mudslinging? That’s hardly anything and I doubt Kim would even care since people have likely said worse when she first started out. Honestly, the interview is about her and maybe it’s possible some people do consider her the anti Kim. It’s her 15 minutes of fame, after all, and why shouldn’t she try to make it more about her or do what some people do very well – attach their name to someone more famous?

It’s quite disgusting. She’s not someone I would want my kid to be like in anyway whatsoever. I want to teach my kids to have modesty and humility, not put themselves on a pedestal so high that they truly believe they’re better than everyone else. This girl wants to say that she’s a role model and with her newfound fame all she has done so far is trash talk someone with a much bigger name than her and basically try to tell others that she’s perfect.     Seems there’s more mudslinging among readers than this woman did in her interview. Some people are upset about her Kim comment and take it upon themselves to go past her level to mock her teeth? That’s lame and childish. I think most of us can honestly say there have been times we could’ve been more humble or expressed ourselves better. Kim is certainly no angel or is always classy – Katherine is entitled to that opinion just as Kim is entitled to express her views (and likely cares a lot less than some folks).

Just because these women happen to be good looking, it doesn’t mean they don’t have accomplishments or degrees. It’s a good thing to teach our daughters that you can look and feel beauty while accomplishing your goals.

    Pretty much so, though sometimes our skin is not so thick that just because you are rich and famous, you forget what it means to be treated badly, and accepting of it. We all want to be loved and I am sure stars derive some sort of pleasure in people being so kind, that a goodly many like their fans and are grateful for this. But we as humans all project our own unresolved conflicts onto others. So sometimes we will irrationally blame them for our own shortcoming. So much easier to blame a patsy, then fester hatred for them, becoming irrational if someone wants us stop. All publicity is NOt good publicity. Some of its just cold cruel.

    I can go both ways on this, are we sick of Kim Kardashian, yes, but I don’t think the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue is really considered the epitome of classy. I also and could be very wrong about this but I do not recall Kim Kardashian ever publicly saying anything bad about another girl. She would have been better off not mentioning Kim’s name she would have come off as humble and gracious.
