Kate Upton Rants About Justin Verlander Losing Cy Young Award
Kate Upton is ranting on Twitter about Justin Verlander losing the 2016 Cy Young Award. The American League honor went to Rick Porcello, despite the Detroit Tigers pitcher receiving more first-place votes from the Baseball Writers Association of America.
“Hey @MLB I thought I was the only person allowed to f*ck @JustinVerlander?! What 2 writers didn’t have him on their ballot?” Upton angrily asked in a series of tweets. “He had the majority of 1st place votes and 2 writers didn’t have him on their ballots?!! can you pick more out of touch people to vote? @MLB.”
Upton then incorrectly stated that Porcello of the Boston Red Sox didn’t receive “any 1st place votes,” and even told him, “You didn’t win. #ByeFelicia @MLB keep up with the times and fire those writers.” The model went on to exchange a few tweets with critics, calling one an “idiot,” and suggesting the two sports journalists in Tampa Bay who didn’t vote for Verlander were “paid off.”
One person who did agree with Upton was Verlander’s sibling, Ben, who posted, “Are you kidding me? Most first place votes and doesn’t win? #SaltyYoungerBrother Explain this..” Accompanying the message was a chart showing the pitcher’s stats compared to Porcello and other starters. He even tweeted directly to the MLB’s Tampa Bay journalist, “Hey, @wwchastain, please explain to me why you didn’t vote for my brother. Thanks.”
“That wasn’t a rhetorical question either. @wwchastain I want an answer. From you and your other twitterless Tampa Bay buddy,” Ben, also a baseball player, went on. “You probably voted for Harambe in the election @wwchastain.” For his part, Verlander himself hasn’t commented on social media.
