Is Kate Upton “Curvy”? Debate Rages After Elle UK Cover Interview
Kate Upton opens up to Elle UK about her celebrated body in the upcoming September issue –but it’s raising debate. “When I first started modelling, I was a normal catalogue model,” she explains. “Then, I became a woman, and I was really excited about becoming a woman. Because I’m from Florida, it’s all about being in bathing suits.” She continues, “It’s a different view of beauty there. You are ugly if you don’t have a curvy body. And I didn’t have one, and then I got one, and thought, ‘Yessss!'”
Upton is somewhat confused by some of the labels used to describe her in the modeling world now that she’s gotten more voluptuous. “And then people say: ‘Oh, wow, you’re healthy,'” she explains. “And you’re like, ‘Wait – what? I’ve been begging for this body my whole life!”’ Except a lot of observers are responding to Upton’s interview by saying she does not really have a “curvy” body.
Do you think she’s a “curvy” model or should our standards be different?
