Kate Middleton Topless Photos Published in French Magazine, Duchess “Saddened”

Topless photos of Kate Middleton were published on Friday in the French magazine Closer.

The pics, which show the Duchess removing her bikini top, were taken when Prince William’s wife was recently sunbathing on vacation at a private home in the South of France.

In the five-page Closer spread, photos reveal Middleton stripping down to her bikini bottom and relaxing on a terrace as Prince William rubs suntan lotion on her back.

One caption in the magazine reads, “The last time we saw Kate and William on a balcony it was for their wedding. But they had more clothes on.”

“People always say she doesn’t need to dress up to look good. Well… Kate is proving this,” reads another caption.

Royal aides traveling with the Duke and Duchess in Malaysia, where they’re marking Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, said the couple was “saddened” by the publication of the photos.

There’s even talk of the royal family exploring legal action for what it believes is an invasion of privacy.

The somewhat blurry photos were shot from a distance where Middleton was clearly unaware that she was under the lens of the paparazzi — in the same country where 15 years ago Prince Williams’ mother, Princess Diana died while fleeing photographers.

“Their Royal Highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them,” said a St. James’ Palace official, adding, “The incident is reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to the Duke and Duchess for being so.”

A palace official added that the royal family feels “a line has been crossed” with the publication of the photos.

The topless Middleton pics come just weeks after Prince Harry was photographed in Vegas partying nude, a point not missed by Closer.

Another photo caption in the French magazine reads, ”Harry started the fashion: these days the Windsors take their clothes off.”

    I don’t condone the photos nor am I in shock.

    I think it’s MORE criminal the balding, big-toothed Prince William photographed in his uber-dorky swim trunks via the same holiday beds such a beauty.

    I’ve seen the Duchess’ pics and like her athletic bod her breasts look firm, petite though perky. Nice areola etc.,

Some laws with rigorous requirements of paparazzi, media proprietors and appropriate penalties-close down the publication????-jail????-fines equal to say 10 times an actuarial assessment of the financial benefits accruing to the various parties should fix the problem.

    Husker, I agree. This is a private home. A private moment with her husband who happens to be a prince. Intrusion into person’s personal life should be a crime. Obviously, They were not aware that a pap was able to capture a picture. We need to start addressing the issues of how social media, internet sites, bloggs, facebook, twitter, camera phones have effected a person’s human rights (bullying, defamation of character, invasion of privacy, stalking, physical and emotional treats…etc).

    I feel completely bad for Kate. It’s not like she purposely decided she was going to take nude photos of herself. If that were the case, it would be a lot different. Instead she’s sunbathing in the privacy of her own home. Tell me what’s wrong with that. EVERYONE does it. You can argue that she’s royalty and in the public eye, so she should have known better, but it’s such a tired, old argument. Royalty or not, she still deserves respect, privacy, and the right to be as normal as she can be, without something like this happening. She’s still a human being after all. That photographer is pathetic to say the least.

    The photographer should be prosecuted for that. They were in the privacy of their home and expected to not be photographed. Yes she’s royal, but saying she shouldn’t put herself in a comprising position is a moot point. Why shouldn’t she feel safe when she’s home? That’s like saying she shouldn’t walk around her home in a towel because it could put her in a ‘compromising position’. Take pictures of her when she knows there are going to pictures taken(like out in public), not when she’s relaxing with her husband in private.

    My God! She’s got a perfect body( one can see it even despite some more conservative outfits she wears sometimes), all the celebs can just go and hide. They can spend all the money they have and no plastic surgeon will give them what Kate Middleton has.I hope the mag will choke on these picks, though, since they did cross the line. Those saying she is anorexic can choke on it too. Now everyone can see she is just proportionately built: no fat, all nicely shaped muscle. Balding William (poor guy) is a very, very lucky man.

    Even if paparazzi laws come about, nothing will change in terms of preventing similar photo scandals. Everyone has an ipad or other electronic device that can snap the photo, as in Prince Harry’s case. If the royal family doesn’t want their nude photos taken, then they should keep clothed. A person doesn’t have to be unclothed or topless to have a good time or relax, pure and simple. In addition medical studies show and dermatologists warn that ANY amount of sunbathing increases premature aging and melanoma risk. She is a public figure who represents other people now and she has the potential to be a role model, like Diana who was never photographed topless. Kate needs to be a bit more street savvy.
