Kate Middleton And Prince William Meet Jay Z And Beyonce At Brooklyn Nets Game
Kate Middleton and Prince William attended Monday’s Brooklyn Nets game at the Barclays Center. The royal couple sat courtside as the home team took on the Cleveland Cavaliers, and were spotted mingling with Beyoncé and Jay Z. Check out the video and photos below!
Before the game, Middleton and Prince William met with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, as well as Global Ambassador Dikembe Mutombo and Senior Vice President for Community & Player Programs Kathleen Behrens. The prince and princess didn’t end up taking their seats until after the second half, and weren’t seated with Beyoncé and Jay Z, who ventured over later in the game to introduce themselves. Afterward, Middleton and Prince William met with LeBron James, who presented the couples with jerseys (even a baby one!) on behalf of the Cavaliers. James took to Instagram afterward to share pics, writing, “Wow what an Honor! This game has brought me a lot and I’ll never take it for granted! The King, The Prince, & Queen Kate! #Royalty #StriveForGreatness #RWTW.”
There was much fanfare outside the venue, but many of the hundreds taking to the streets were not there in hopes of getting a glimpse of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but to hold a die-in in memory of Eric Garner and Michael Brown. The demonstration was part of ongoing protests against the non-indictments of the police officers who killed the men in altercations earlier this year. The issue was at the forefront of people’s minds inside the arena, too, with Nets players and Cavaliers members, including James, donning “I Can’t Breathe” t-shirts for pre-game warm-ups.
As Gossip Cop reported, Middleton and Prince William arrived in the Big Apple on Sunday evening. He traveled to Washington D.C. Monday for a short time to meet with President Obama and speak about wildlife conservation. Middleton went with the First Lady of New York to a child development center in Harlem, and later reunited with her husband to meet with Hillary and Chelsea Clinton.
The royals have another jam-packed day set for Tuesday, their final day in the States, culminating in a 600th anniversary dinner for their alma mater, the University of St. Andrew’s, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
