Kate Middleton Hospital Prank Call: Listen to Radio Hosts Pretend To Be “Queen”

Kate Middleton was victimized by a radio hoax in which two Australian radio hosts prank called London’s King Edward VII hospital pretending to be Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles, and tricked a nurse into revealing information about Kate’s condition.

On Tuesday, Mel Grieg and Michael Christian of 2Day FM told listeners they’d obtained the hospital’s phone number, and then placed a call inquiring about the Duchess of Cambridge, who’s currently being treated for severe morning sickness called hyperemesis gravidarum.

Incredibly, a nurse took the ridiculous phone call as real, and happily provided “The Queen,” “Prince Charles” and their corgis with a detailed status update on Middleton.

The facility has apologized for the breach in confidentiality.

A spokesperson for the hospital said, ”This call was transferred through to a ward and a short conversation was held with one of the nursing staff. King Edward VII’s Hospital deeply regrets this incident.”

2Day FM says it “sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the inquiry.”

For their parts, Grieg and Christian said, ”We were very surprised that our call was put through. We thought we’d be hung up on as soon as they heard our terrible accents.”

They added, “We’re very sorry if we’ve caused any issues and we’re glad to hear that Kate is doing well.”

    You people are so uptight. Honestly, relax a little bit. It was a prank call, I’m sure the two radio host’s did not think they would get to talk to anyone who knew anything. If anyone is to blame it is the idiot who picked up the phone and gave out top secret info on the Princess, she should be sacked. It was the worst impersonation of the Queen if I have ever heard one how could anyone be fooled by this.

    and now this poor lady has committed suicide (suspected anyway) how awful. these people deserve to be prosecuted. as a nurse, I know that you are not meant to give out any information over the phone, but having a Royal in the hospital, and having someone phone up pretending to be the queen, yes, in hindsight i’m sure it seems ridiculous, but at the time, on the spot, it probably puts real pressure on and seemed real to her, and you don’t know what to do. my thoughts go out to the poor woman’s family and these two radio presesnters should be sacked

    She was probably blinded by the fact that Kate was there and that the queen, supposedly, was calling. Actually both the receptionist and the nurse both made the error. But should not have been serious enough for the receptionist to kill herself. And certainly not enough for someone to kill her. Yet she was found dead in the street.

    I feel so badly for this poor nurse’s family. She sounded like a lovely woman trying to be helpful and now look what it has come to. Perhaps she thought that since the call had been put through that it had been screened prior to ringing the nursing station. These two dj’s are horrid.

    this was funny, and there accents were terrible to begin with. we have all been guilty of prank calling someone before, so don’t act like it was such a terrible thing that they did, it was unfortunate that it got out of control, mostly because of the media, and we know they like to over exaggerate things to get a reaction out of the public. gosh even the UK doesn’t hype up the royal family as much as the USA
