Duchess Kate Wears Hoodie, Dazzles Scouts & Helps Them Earn Badges (VIDEO)
Duchess Kate made some new young friends on Tuesday, dropping in on a group of astonished Beaver Scouts in London to help them earn their Disability Awareness badges. Check out the video below!
The royal wore a black Scouts hoodie and jeans for the occasion, but still seemed glamorous to the children, who referred to her as “Princess Kate” before she told them, “My name’s Catherine. It’s very nice to meet you.” The kids still seemed thunderstruck.
During her visit to the 23rd Poplar Beaver Scouts Colony, which is located in East London, Kate learned the “scouts’ promise” (“I promise to do my best, to be kind and helpful and to love my world”) in sign language, and participated with the kids as they explored how to cope with disabilities by trying different tasks with certain impediments.
For instance, she blindfolded herself while attempting to ice a cake, and attempted to cut and eat a chocolate bar while wearing boxing gloves. Kate helped the scouts as they tried similarly challenging activities. At the end of her visit, Kate presented the group with their new badges. The Duchess was at the venue on behalf of The Scout Association’s “Better Prepared” campaign, trying to raise awareness and recruit additional adult volunteers. Check out the videos below!
