The two Australian DJs who pranked Kate Middleton’s hospital last month will keep their jobs, the radio station said on Monday.

Mel Greig and Michael Christian, who had their “Hot 30 Countdown” radio show suspended after the hospital nurse who transfered their call committed suicide, will continue working at 2Day FM in Sydney.

However, the duo’s show has now been officially canceled.

The station’s parent company, Southern Cross Austereo, said in a statement, “We look forward to Mel and MC returning to work when the time is right, in roles that make full use of their talents,” adding, “We will discuss future roles with them when they are ready.”

Jacintha Saldanha committed suicide three days after the prank call, in which Greig and Christian sought information on a pregnant Middleton’s condition by pretending to be Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles.

What do you think about the deejays keeping their jobs?

This is what happens when a society makes stupidity and cruelty a valid basis for humor. Too much of today’s “entertainment” is built on the art of debasing other human beings for fun and money. See the tabloids.

These two and the person who gave them permission to make the call should be FIRED!! I will never forget them coming on and bragging about what they did…so wroooooooooooong!!

I just feel like this is a good lesson on practicing human decency which I”m afraid, when you look at some of the comments on other blog postings, hasn’t made any impact at all.

    What?!?! Suck them immediately!

Very true. It’s sad that only few people see this point.

I cant believe some of the comments here, if you actually believe that the prank that was pulled is what actually caused this clearly unstable women to kill herself, then I worry about the sanity of all of you. This nurse was only on the phone for 30 seconds, she gave out no information, all she did was transfer the call. A person doesn’t wake up, have one bad day then decide “Today sucked, I’m going to kill myself”. It was shown in the inquest that the nurse had been suffering with depression and that it was not the first time she had attempted to kill herself. You can’t place the blame of suicide on anyone other then the mentally unstable person who commits suicide. However you could ask why a hospital would place someone in such a stressful role when the nurse in question is already struggling mentally. Should the prank have been made? No, it shouldn’t have however the two radio host were just following the orders of writers, this prank was not live to air so how about we place blame on the producer that decided it was fine for the airway.

Wonder if it was your sister or mother if you would feel the same. I am sure the radio hosts could of said no but I would bet they were behind it. Actions demand consequences or it happens again. They should be charged under the privacy act for trying illegally to obtain private medical information.
