Kate Hartpootlian And Neptune “So You Think You Can Dance” Video: “Beautiful” Contemporary Routine Bridges Race
Kate Hartpootlian and Neptune performed a “beautiful” contemporary routine on Monday’s “So You Think You Can Dance” that had the judges calling it among the best of the night. Watch below!
Eddie “Neptune” Eskridge was in the bottom last week, and he earned full redemption this time around with the stunning dance he shared with Hartpootlian. Together they told a story of a couple torn apart by a husband’s risky job, using such emotion that she appeared to be wiping away tears at the end. “It felt like you guys were an actual item,” Jason Derulo said afterward.
“That piece was beautiful… It was chilling,” said the singer. He went on to say Hartpootlian gave a “grade A performance,” and that while his favorites often change week to week, Neptune was now “kind of taking that spot.” Paul Abdul, too, called the street dancer “one of my favorites,” and said of the number, “Such a simple, beautiful concept, and yet so complex with emotions that you two were able to delivery beautifully.”
And Nigel Lythgoe made a poignant observation dating back to the show’s inaugural season 10 years ago. “I got so many complaints from ignorant people that a white girl was dancing with a black guy. [Now] it was beautiful to see this happening,” said the veteran judge. “I feel so much was said in that routine, and you both portrayed it beautifully.”
Hartpootlian then found out she was in danger of going home at the end of the night, but she ended up winning one of the two Twitter saves. Check out the full video below, and tell us what you think!
