Kanye West “Yeezy Season 3”: Highlights From Rapper’s Concert And Fashion Show
Kanye West held his “Yeezy Season 3” fashion show and The Life Of Pablo listening party on Thursday at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and Gossip Cop has highlights from the rapper’s concert and New York Fashion Week event. See below!
As Gossip Cop reported, West debuted the third collection of his “Yeezy” fashion line for Adidas, and the entire Kardashian-Jenner family was in attendance. Kim debuted a brand new look, rocking platinum blonde hair, and was joined by Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall, Kylie, Kris, Caitlyn and North, all of whom wore all-white outfits. Also showing up to support West was Lamar Odom, who made his first appearance since his near-fatal overdose at a Nevada brothel last October.
One of West’s new tracks that played during the event was “Famous,” his collaboration with Rihanna. The song makes a controversial reference to Taylor Swift, with one of the lyrics going, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. I made that b*tch famous.” Of course, West and Swift have a complicated history stemming from the 2009 MTV VMA’s, but the two have since become friendly. Swift’s reaction to West’s new tune remains to be seen.
In the song “High Lights,” West also dredges up Ray J’s history with his wife, as well Rob and Blac Chyna’s new relationship. One of the rapper’s lyrics is “Me and Ray J would be friends if we ain’t love the same b*tch. Yeah he hit it first, but the only difference is I’m rich.” West later adds, “Blac Chyna f***ing Rob to help him with the weight.”
While West was making a speech mid-show, a person in the crowd yelled out “F**k Michael Jordan!” The person was most likely making reference to a private text that West revealed on Twitter, in which he was told that Jordan declined his invite to attend the show. But West defended the NBA legend from the stage, telling the crowd, “I wouldn’t be here except for Michael Jordan. Respect Jordan!”
Another revelation that came out of West’s appearance is that Adidas would be lowering the price of Yeezy sneakers, which currently have a retail price of around $200. The rapper also shared his admiration for another fashion line, saying, “Being the creative director of Hermes is a dream of mine.” Additionally, West revealed a video game titled “Only One: The Game,” with a visual of his mom Donda flying through the skies and entering the gates of heaven.
West concluded his show by telling the crowd, “I love you all for supporting me, for supporting Adidas, supporting good music. And I promise we’re gonna keep on making beautiful works of art.” The rapper then went on to thank all of the musicians who collaborated on his new album, including Rihanna, The Weeknd, Chance the Rapper, Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi and Ty Dolla Sign.
