Kanye West Opens Up About “True Love” Kim Kardashian, Says “F**k You” to Haters
Kanye West isn’t forcing Kim Kardashian to change her style, and the new mom isn’t forcing the rapper to appear on her reality show. West makes that — and much more — clear in a piece in W magazine’s July issue, in which the music star opens up about his personal life, his explicit home movies, and just why his ego is so large.
Of allegations that West has forced Kardashian to undergo a Euro-centric makeover, he defiantly says, “Nobody can tell my girl what to do.” He goes on to commend his beloved for taking fashion risks “in front of the world.” “It just shows you how much she loves me. And how much she actually loves the opportunity to learn,” says the rapper. “You got, like, a million companies saying, ‘This is impacting your brand! This is impacting your fans! And blah blah blah.’ But she still sees this light of beauty.”
West seems to have a similar mindset when it comes to being on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” telling the magazine, “Oh, that’s just all for love. It’s simply that.” “At a certain point, or always, love is more important than any branding,” says West. But West readily admits he prefers to be in control of his image — even telling W he’s “the No. 1 living and breathing rock star” — and cites personal sex tapes that were nearly leaked last fall as an example.
The Grammy winner, who confesses to being obsessed with porn since high school, explains, “For the most part, I’d rather people have one of those home videos than some of the paparazzi photos that get published. At least I recorded the sh*t myself. That tape couldn’t have hurt me in any way if it came out — it could only have helped.” “Now, I just do exactly what I want, whenever I want, how the f**k I want,” he goes on to note. “ ‘F**k you’ is my message.”
And when asked about his infamously large ego, West initially says he tries “to scale it back,” but then adds, “my ego is my drug. My drug is, ‘I’m better than all you other motherf**kers. Kiss my a**!’ ” Duly noted. West’s full interview hits newsstands on July 16.
