Kanye West Releases “Ultralight Prayer” – Listen To New Easter Song!
Kanye West released “Ultralight Prayer” on Easter, a pared-down version of his song “Ultralight Beam,” the first single off his album The Life Of Pablo. Interestingly, the new two-minute version features the beginning of West’s song, a sermon by Kirk Franklin backed by a choir, but doesn’t have any of the vocals from the rapper himself. Listen to “Ultralight Prayer” below.
On Sunday, West simply tweeted “Ultralight Prayer,” with a link to the Soundcloud of the song, and the message “Happy Easter!” The abridged song is a fitting release for Sunday, since it covers the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Among the lyrics in the sermon talks about how Christ “took the nail, so we can have eternal life.” And throughout the highly spiritual song, it’s repeated how we all need more “faith.”
As Gossip Cop reported West first played the original song “Ultralight Beam” last month during his “Yeezy Season 3” fashion show at New York’s Madison Square Garden. And two days later, he performed the song live with Chance The Rapper for the first time ever when he was the musical guest on the February 13 episode of “Saturday Night Live.” Listen below to Kanye West’s new alternate version of the song, “Ultralight Prayer,” released specifically for Easter.
