Kanye West SWISH: Rapper Changes Album Name From So Help Me God
Kanye West’s highly-anticipated upcoming album has a new name. The rapper took to Twitter on Sunday to announce, “I’m changing my album name to SWISH.”
It took mere minutes for “SWISH” to begin trending on Twitter in the United States, as thousands upon thousands of people retweeted the news. West cautioned, however, “I might change it again but that’s the name now.” He provided no other details.
As Gossip Cop previously reported, West had announced earlier this year that the record would be called “So Help Me God,” and even posted a picture of what was believed to be the cover art. The title seemed to fit with the sort of religiously-titled “Yeezus.” “Swish,” however is a term often associated with basketball, though it’s certainly possible “SWISH” is meant to stand for something that will be revealed at a later date. One possible clue: West used “SWISH” in a couple of tweets in March, when he posted nude photos of wife Kim Kardashian.
Regardless, the new music will be West’s eighth studio album (counting “Watch The Throne” with Jay Z). And though there’s still no release date yet, the star has already premiered several of the potential tracks. “Only One,” which West wrote about his daughter North from the perspective of his late mother, ” and “FourFiveSeconds,” with Rihanna and Paul McCartney, have had the biggest buzz thus far. “Wolves” and “All Day,” which also features McCartney, have made some waves, too. Gossip Cop will continue to have updates as more information is released.
