Kanye West Performs “Ultra Light Beams” On ‘SNL’ – WATCH VIDEO
Kanye West performed “Ultra Light Beams” on this week’s “SNL” as his second song. For his first song, West sang “High Lights.” “Ultra Light Beams” is off West’s new, upcoming album The Life Of Pablo. See the video below of Kanye West’s performance of “Ultra Light Beams” with Chance The Rapper on “Saturday Night Live.”
This marks the first time West has sang “Ultra Light Beams” live. As Gossip Cop previously reported, West played “Ultra Light Beams” and the rest of the album The Life Of Pablo at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Thursday during his “Yeezy Season 3” fashion show, which was attended by Kim Kardashian and their daughter North, as well as Kendall, Kylie, Kris and Caitlyn Jenner, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, and Lamar Odom.
As Gossip Cop also noted, this is the sixth time West has been the musical guest on “SNL.” In addition to previously appearing on the show in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2013, he also performed during the “SNL 40” anniversary show in February 2015, doing a medley of “Jesus Walks,” “Only One,” and “Wolves.”
West’s new album has been beset by controversy. First, it was titled Swish and then changed to Waves, which resulted in a war of words between the rapper and Wiz Khalifa. It was ultimately changed to The Life Of Pablo. And the track, “Famous,” as Gossip Cop reported, also caused trouble when West claimed he got Taylor Swift’s approval for the lyrics, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous.” As Swift’s rep told us, “Kanye did not call for approval, she felt the song had a “misogynistic message,” and she was “never made aware” of the line with the word “bitch.”
