Kanye West Offers Advice To Graduating Fashion School Students About Being “Hated” (VIDEO)
Kanye West, who taught at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College as part of his community service for assaulting a paparazzo in 2013, spoke to the graduating students at the fashion school on Friday, and told them that those who are the best “get hated on the most.” After a runway show during the commencement ceremonies, West stood up before the students and offered them words of advice. See the video below.
West told the graduates, “It’s a tough world out there. You’re going to prepare yourself for politics, bad bosses, hating employees ,and usually when you’re the absolute best, you get hated on the most.” He even noted the obstacles he’s faced as a world-famous rapper with a clothing business. “Even for me, as a successful musician, in order to make the transition it was really all but impossible,” said West, adding, “People always try to box you in to what they know you best for.”
He concluded that the “most successful” artists are the ones who’ve had these goals of creating even since they were little. West, who recently received an honorary doctorate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, told the appreciative graduating class, “I feel extremely honored to see new talent fighting for their voice that I can only imagine they’ve been fighting for since age three.” Check out the video below of Kanye West’s graduation speech, and tell us what you think.
