Kanye West and Taylor Swift have had quite a complicated relationship stemming back to 2009 when the rapper infamously stormed the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards while the young singer was accepting her award for Best Female Video. In the years since, the two musicians have feuded and then made up and became friends, but as of this week, it would appear the beef is back on again. Check out a timeline of their relationship below!

As Gossip Cop reported, West claims he’s responsible for Swift’s fame, calls her a “bitch,” and says he “might still have sex” with her in his new song “Famous.” Following the backlash over his questionable lyrics, West tweeted that Swift aware of the song head of time and gave him permission to make reference to her. However, Swift’s rep later told Gossip Cop that she never approved of the song, tried to talk the rapper out of releasing its “misogynistic message,” and was also unaware about the “bitch” line. Obviously, someone here is lying.

September 2009: West rushed the stage while Swift was accepting her award for Best Female Video at the MTV VMAs, grabbed her mic away and declared that fellow nominee Beyonce had “one of the best videos of all time.” Swift left the stage in tears, but Beyonce herself gave Swift the opportunity to finish her speech later in the show.

September 2010: At the 2010 VMAs, Swift performs “Innocent,” a song that was rumored and later confirmed by Swift to be her response to West. In the track, she refers to the rapper as “32 and still growing up now.” And while the song also conveys a message of forgiveness, some people perceived it as being passive aggressive.

June 2013: West sat down for an interview with The New York Times to promote his album Yeezus, and told the newspaper that he didn’t regret crashing the stage, despite having apologized shortly after the incident. He expressed that the interview “led me to complete awesomeness at all times,” and noted that he was pressured into apologizing.

February 2015: West and Swift were photographed having a friendly conversation with each other at the 2015 Grammys. The following day, West revealed during a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest that he and Swift had squashed the beef and planned to collaborate on a song together.

August 2015: Swift presented West with the Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 VMAs, admitted to being “a fan of his for as long as I can remember.” She went on to jokingly reference their incident six years prior by saying, “Kanye West has had one of the greatest careers of all time!” The two then embraced as West arrived on stage to accept his prestigious honor.

February 2016: West debuts “Famous” at “Yeezy Season 3” and a new feud erupts thanks to the rapper’s lyric, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous.”
