Kanye West Criminal Record Gets Erased
Kanye West’s criminal record has been erased by a California judge. As Gossip Cop previously reported, West was convicted in March 2014 for beating up a paparazzo named Daniel Ramos at LAX Airport in the summer of 2013. Now the rapper’s crime has been completely expunged.
As Gossip Cop also noted, following West’s attack on Ramos at LAX Airport he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery. The rapper was then sentenced to 250 hours of community service, anger management therapy, and 24 months of probation. Though he was still on probation until March 2016, by September 2015, West did even more hours of community service than required by assisting the Los Angeles Trade Technical College’s fashion design program. The dean even wrote a letter of praise to the judge on West’s behalf.
Now, West’s incident is a distant memory that is no longer on his record. A judge has signed off on expunging the conviction, and it’s considered as if he’s never had any trouble with the law. In 2015, West also settled a civil suit that Ramos had brought against him. The confidential settlement included the rapper publicly apologizing to the paparazzo. It’s unknown whether any (or rather, how much) money was paid out to Ramos to settle the civil lawsuit.
