Kanye West: “I’m A Married, Christian Man With A Family,” Media Needs “New Target”
Kanye West stopped his Brisbane, Australia show on Monday to go on a five-minute rant about how the media “sensationalizes” news and paints him as a “bad person,” when he’s simply “a married, Christian man with a family.”
The rapper used that refrain twice, and implored the media to “pick a new target.” Mostly, West wants to be left alone because he’s a “true artist.”
His latest issues with the media could be a result of having been reamed by various outlets for getting annoyed in Sydney on Friday on Friday at two concertgoers who didn’t stand up for one of his songs when he asked the crowd to do so. “This is the longest I’ve had to wait,” a perturbed West continued before realizing the two individuals were in wheelchairs.
West has long been one of pop culture’s most controversial figures. From infamously interrupting Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards to slamming George W. Bush, the performer has never shied away from being outspoken.
Regardless of whether you agree with West’s behavior in the wheelchair incident, or his comments in any of his crazy rants, it’s always refreshing to see a celebrity use their platform passionately, to speak his or her mind, and not conform. The key often is not being offensive, and many would say West often straddles that line.
