Kanye West said he’s “53 million dollars in personal debt,” adding “pray we overcome,” in a series of tweets before performing on “Saturday Night Live.” He also explained that the name of his new album, The Life Of Pablo, actually relates to the Apostle Paul. It was previously believed that Pablo, Spanish for Paul, referred to Pablo Picasso, whom the rapper has spoken about and long admired.

About two hours before West performed “High Lights” On “SNL,” he tweeted, “Paul… The most powerful messenger of the first century… Now we stand here 20 centuries later… Because he was a traveler.” That was followed up by a second message that read, “He was a learned man not of the original sect so he was able to take the message to the rest of the world.” West, who previously said The Life Of Pablo was a “gospel” album went on to note on Twitter, “He was saved from persecution due to his Roman citizenship… I have the right to speak my voice.”

“Please forgive the profanity and give hugs and blessings to my brother Kirk for standing by me… In a few hours the journey begins,” tweeted West, thanking gospel singer Kirk Franklin, who can be heard on the song “Ultra Light Beams.” At the end of West’s “SNL” performance of “Ultra Light Beams,” he announced the start of the journey by yelling out how The Life Of Pablo was now available for streaming on Tidal.

West continued in his latest series of tweets, “All memes are wrong… The Life of Paul… The life of Pablo… Ultralight beams… Moms dads daughters sons stand up.” The Yeezus singer added, “Let’s dance in the streets. I am consumed by my purpose to help the world.”

But then his Twitter messages took a turn. West claimed, “I write this to you my brothers while still 53 million dollars in personal debt… Please pray we overcome… This is my true heart.” Gossip Cop has reached to West’s rep to confirm whether the rapper is actually that far in debt.
