The Bachelorette Twist: Kaitlyn And Britt To BOTH Be Stars Of New Season!
“The Bachelorette” will have a MAJOR twist for the 2015 season when it airs this spring. As announced on “After The Final Rose” following “The Bachelor” season finale, a traditional new “Bachelorette” has NOT been selected. Instead, “Bachelor” Chris Soules’ exes Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson will BOTH have the season 11 title. At least at first.
Host Chris Harrison explained that both women have a fan base, and producers just could not decide who should lead the next season. Both Bristowe and Nilsson will meet all the new “Bachelorette” contestants, and it will be up to the MEN to decide for whose affections they want to compete. “This is totally normal,” quipped Bristowe, and Nilsson joked, “Not weird at all.”
This is not without precedent, however. During season 8 of “The Bachelor,” Byron Velvick and Jay Overbye both met all the women on the first episode, and the ladies got to vote for which guy they wanted to pursue. Velvick won, and became the season’s “Bachelor.” For the record, Velvick and his chosen woman Mary Delgado never wed and split after five years together, following a domestic violence incident.
Perhaps Bristowe or Nilsson will have better success, though it remains to be seen if both will be the “Bachelorette” all season long, or the guys will once again choose one over the other to lead the show. The reality stars seemed nervous and a bit uncomfortable about taking the journey together, and Harrison acknowledged this is uncharted territory for the show. The unprecedented season will premiere on May 18, and will be followed this summer by “Bachelor in Paradise,” likely with infamous Soules’ contestant, Ashley S. What do you think of the “Bachelorette” twist?
