Justin Theroux Did NOT “Shade” Brad Pitt, Despite Reports
On Saturday, Theroux posted an Instagram photo of a graffiti painting by artist Nick Flatt. The picture depicts a woman with her finger in her throat, to symbolize gagging, with phrases like “f*ck racism,” “f*ck NSA, and “f*ck war” written all around her. The actor indicated in his caption that he posted the snapshot as a commentary on the upcoming presidential election, stating, “#currentelectionmood.”
What Theroux apparently didn’t realize, however, is that one such phrase read, “f*ck Brad Pitt.” Of course, since that’s the ex-husband of wife Jennifer Aniston, many outlets seized on that one aspect of the photo. Star, for instance, is declaring on its website on Monday, “Justin Theroux Throws Major Shade At Jennifer Aniston’s Ex.”
“Justin Theroux finally broke his silence over Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s failed marriage with an interesting post on social media,” says the tabloid, implying that Theroux purposefully offered a direct comment on Pitt and Jolie’s divorce. But that’s not the case at all. First off, it is wrong to assume “f*ck Brad Pitt” in any way relates to Jolie.
But regardless, Theroux updated his caption to show he wasn’t intending to diss anyone at all. The added text, which Star fails to mention, reads, “#andNOthispostisNOT’shading’anyonebecauseimnotelevemyearsoldimeanseriously #okaymaybepickles.” Indeed, the graffiti also features not just “f*ck pickles,” but also “f*ck Facebook” and “f*ck light beer.”
In other words, there’s a lot of random messages in the artwork. And it is conceivable that Theroux simply didn’t realize what one of them said, or didn’t expect it to be interpreted by the tabloid media as “shade.” Gossip Cop will take his word for it.
