Justin Bieber Celebrates Third Grammy Nomination Amid “Amazing Musical Transition”
Justin Bieber is celebrating his third Grammy Awards nomination.
As Gossip Cop reported, the nominees for the 2016 Grammys were announced on Monday morning. Bieber shares a nomination with Diplo and Skrillex in the category of Best Dance Recording. Together they earned a nod for “Where Are U Now.”
Bieber took to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to celebrate the honor. The superstar tweeted, “@diplo @Skrillex @poobear @scooterbraun Grammy time boys. Congrats. #WhereAreUNow #PURPOSE.” On Facebook, he posted a screengrab of the nominations announcement with a similar caption, writing, “Diplo Skrillex Grammy time boys. Congrats. #WhereAreUNow #PURPOSE.”
And on Instagram, Bieber shared a photo of himself with Skrillex and Diplo at last month’s American Music Awards. “Up for a Grammy with these guys thanks to everyone who has been a part of this amazing musical transition,” he wrote. The post has already racked up more than 400,000 likes.
Bieber has long said that one of his ultimate career goals is to win a Grammy. He was previously nominated in 2011 for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album following the release of My World 2.0, but won neither. And after Bieber was snubbed when the nominations were announced for the 2013 Grammy Awards, his manager Scooter Braun ranted on Twitter, saying the Recording Academy “blew it.”
“The hardest thing to do is transition, keep the train moving. the kid delivered,” tweeted Braun, as Gossip Cop reported at the time. “Huge succesful album, sold out tour, and won people over. “this time he deserved to be recognized and I dont really have any kind nice positive things to say about a decision i dont agree with.”
For his part, Bieber acknowledged it was a “big bummer” that his Believe album wasn’t recognized, but told Ellen DeGeneres in an interview, “But I know that it’ll happen one day.” The singer will now have to wait til February to find out if he’ll finally win the coveted award.
“Where Are U Now” was released in February as a single from Diplo and Skrillex’s Jack U album. Bieber re-released it on his Purpose album in November. The song, which marked the start of a new new sound for the former child star, has gone double platinum. Tell us what you think of the Grammy nomination in the comments below.
