Justin Bieber Named Suspect in Alleged Paparazzo Fight (PHOTOS)

Justin Bieber got into a fight with a paparazzo on Sunday in Calabasas, California, and has since been named a suspect in the alleged battery.

Although some of the details are murky, it seems that while the superstar and his girlfriend, Selena Gomez, were leaving a local mall where they had gone to see a movie, Bieber and a photographer had a physical altercation after the shutterbug reportedly blocked the singer’s car as he tried to drive away.

Bieber supposedly then jumped out of the car and scuffled with the photog.

Next, the paparazzo called 911, while other photographers took shots of Gomez trying to calm down Bieber, who was putting a baseball cap and a shoe back on that had fallen off during the alleged incident.

See PHOTOS of  Bieber and Gomez following the reported fight.

By the time the police and an ambulance arrived to treat the paparazzo, who was complaining of pain to his chest, The Biebs and Gomez had already split.

After being released from a local hospital, the unnamed photographer later filed a report in which he named Bieber as the suspect in what the police are treating as a misdemeanor battery.

The cops would like to now question the singer about the fight.

Gossip Cop has reached out to Bieber’s rep for a comment.

Gomez, however, took to Facebook to write, “THANKS YOU SO MUCH to my fans for always protecting me and being there for me. I can’t thank you guys enough. I’m sorry I had to rush out. Love you guys.”

Who do you think is at fault — Bieber or the paparazzo who reportedly tried to block his car from driving away?

This is what happens when you invade someone’s personal space! After being followed for so long, you start to crack! Look at what happened to Britney! More strick anti-pap laws need to be created and enforced!

  • D. Martin

Okay. The paps “blocked the singer from getting into his car”! I can’t believe this! He physically tried to prevent him — and I’m sorry but Justin Bieber is still a KID — from getting into his car. Why is it the scumbag paps have all the rights and can set up car accidents and physical altercations and its the celebs that get slapped with the charges? This makes no sense to me.

  • Anonymous

If someone was blocking you from getting inside your car, what would you do? Stand there calmly? You would probably have a similar reaction. Besides, we don’t know what exactly happened between the time he got to his car & when the other paps came to take pictures. These paparazzi are really aggressive & there do need to be more laws like the UK does.

  • EC

    LA paps are aggresive

  • H. Taylor

This makes me mad cause this poor Justin Bieber is getting attacked for being invaded of his personal space and life. It makes me sick

  • I was there…

He was actually blocking him from getting out of his parking space….

  • Lindengroves

On the plus side, if the Beibs gets convicted then maybe ICE will deport his Canadian ass back to Ontario.

  • Fergie beat Mario’s Ass

Oh that Joustan. I knew he was a scuffler watching him jousting down that stream. Hes such a tough little beaver.

  • Krissu

That is what I was just thinking. Heaven knows I am no fan of Bieber, but why whenever there is “altercation” between a celeb and paparazzi fallowing them, then it seems that guilty party is always the celeb.
Celebrities and their family members need protection from paparazzi before another princess Diana type of tragedy takes place!

  • Krissu

One really has to be lowest of the low to become a celebrity hunting paparazzi. Or one of those “journalists” who make up stories about them for a living. I mean, who would want that kind of a job? Being a waitress or a store clerk is more honest work!

    getting bieber tired!

what do the paps expect seriously, they blocked him from his car for god’s sake, if the paps act extremely, then they’ll get an extreme reaction, deal with it, Justin wasn’t at fault here, he was just trying to protect himself and his girl, whilst also trying to escape, the pap in question deserved it xx

  • Guest

out of curiosity where are the altercation photos?or have the rest of the paps convieniently just appeared “after” to take photos???I hope Bieber sues the @ssh@leand wins the case. Not realy a fan of his, but to have someone physically stop me from going somewhere…I”m pretty sure it’ s agaist the law, not to mention I’d be seriously pissed of too…

  • Billytrucks46

laws for papparizo haha all cali wants is the celebs money from taxes , not to protct them from jerks like the papparazi

I am sick and tired of this guy, honestly, but if they were blocking his car, then he had a right to be mad…don’t know if it required fighting though….

um Paparrazzi come with being in the business if you can’t take it find another profession though there are sometimes they should be put in their place like photographing a funeral or when your on personal business like going to vote in an election. Justin probably has duel citizenship so he can’t be deported for this besides he’s an adult by law at age 18. I’m reminded of when the tabloids sent paps to Harrass Joanne woodward on election day 2008 barely 5 weeks after Paul Newman died just to sell papers she wanted to knock those photogs out because she wasn’t camera ready but she didn’t because she has too much grace for that. but it would’ve been easy explained had she done something to protect her privacy and not had those unflattering photos shown on tv and in magazines

  • pjl

I am so tired of people saying “it comes with the business”. Yes getting papped comes with the business, but the aggressiveness and the blocking the car, blocking the road, that does not come with the business. There should be laws about how close they can get to you. There are seriously mentally ill people in this world, they can get very close to a celebrity under the guise of being a paparazzi. It really is dangerous for the celeb. Please don’t keep saying it comes with the territory, taking pics is one thing, invading someone’s personal space is a whole other problem that needs to be stopped.

  • tosenheejk

If Justin Bieber beat me up I do not think that I would be telling anyone out of embarrassment.

  • Eyeroll

I’m not a JB hater but I’m not a liker either. It seems like these paps are purposely setting themselves up for celebrity induced injury so they can SUE SUE SUE! They know what they’re doing. Paps are nothing but parasites.

  • Annajo

Beiber’s15 minutes are almost over. He’s trying to get the world to see him as a big boy now! Problem is he still looks 12, and his little girl fans are starting to move on to other girly boy idols. Poor boy doesn know what to do show us he’s manly so he has a fight. Can’t wait for thus overrated twirp to disappear.

  • Madison B,

WHY DON’T THEY INVESTIGATE THE BATTERY OF THOSE STINKING PAPS FOR THE BATTERY THAT THEY DO TO CHILDREN AND THE CELEBRITIES? I DON’T GET THIS KIND OF A DEAL. I AM GOING TO WRITE THE GOVERNOR OF CA BECAUSE I DON’T GET THIS UNFAIRNESS AT ALL. THOSE PAPS TRY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF CELEBS ALL THE TIME. LA BETTER DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. GET THOSE CRIMINALS OFF THE STREETS!

  • Anonymous

LoL @ filing a police report against Justin Beiber. You got beat up by a little girl, don’t make it public.

  • Knowledge101

With 196 countries in the world (The PLANET EARTH) obviously AMERICA must be embarrassed by your ignorance. Knowledge is powerful.

  • barb

isn’t not letting someone go where they want to go considered some sort of kidnapping? ‘holding by force’ or something like that. the papparazzi guy should be arrested himself, for forcing the confrontation.

  • Krissu

That “poor victim” I am sure at some point will feel that money would ease his “suffering and nightmares”

  • femroc

ALL PAPPZ are scum – choosing to piss people off on a daily basis and talk crap just to upset them into a photog moment just like this. I think all Pappz should have 911 called on them every time they freakin’ show up – get rid of them. And WE need to quit buying trashy magazines that post their pappz pics for money they leech off the stars. It’s a very horrible business and they should all be round up and inprisoned and subjected to 24/7 flashing cameras on them. It’s really amazing that more people have not been truly hurt.
But remember Princess Diana’s death? I still believe the pappz totally caused that.

  • VampireAddict

But thats what happens when your famous. All celebs know what their gonna get when they get into this business and so its their fault lol.

  • Anonymous

re: Joane Woodward. Either I didn’t know or forgot re: paps harrassing Joanne Woodward. How the paps treated her is disgusting. Reminds me of how a pap took a photo of River Phoenix in his grave and than tried to sell it to his fans. Yes JW is one classy woman and a darn good actress too and her husband was a darn good actor.

  • Anonymous

To me it sounds like you’re saying this incident is for Beiber to get some street cred.

  • Anonymous

Yes I am with you who stated the paps crossed the line of taking photos to being intrusive. Trivia. Paparazzo, plural of course paparazzi term was first used , I believe , in the 1960 Frederico Fellini film “La Dolce Vita” The Sweet Life in Italian.

  • Anonymous

Their fault? Not really. At least, it shouldn’t be. Not all celebrities WANT to be famous. Some actors and musicians are just doing the jobs they love, making movies and music to entertain others. The paparazzi are just a bunch of rude, greedy stalkers who should seriously quit farting around and find better, more respectable jobs. Sometimes they go way too far. It’s a damn shame that our society thinks that it’s okay for celebs to be stalked just because of their status.

The fact that someone decides to enter the entertainment business, that they have a talent people enjoy and they share – that does NOT mean they sign a pact with the Devil and give up all their personal rights and privileges as a human being.

What you, as a fan, and the papparazzi have a right to, is a good performance in a film, at a show or a concert for the price of admission. Full stop. You do not get the right to any information about their personal lives, photos taken through their bathroom or bedroom windows, the right to interrupt their daily lives running errands, at dinner with friends, walking down the street, etc., ad infinitum, because you or the paps think these people owe you something. They don’t.

It is NOT their “fault”. They do not ask for or sign on for that. Most of them, except maybe the desperate “D” listers, hate it. I don’t blame them. We desperately need to change the laws in this country to protect so-called “public figures”. The laws in Europe are changing rapidly around this and more and more celebs are fleeing to get away from it.

I hope Bieber countersues this knucklehead and files a complaint against him for violating his rights to move freely about his business.

  • Jennifer

I agree. It’s well known these ruthless paps intentionally instigate altercations and set up extremely dangerous situations to get reactions from celebrities, then they get a double payday when they sue because they get “hurt” and they also sell the photos while the celebs get arrested, have to pay off the people who were harrassing them in the first place and get a reputation as being unstable or whatever. It’s disgusting.

NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO HIT ANYONE DO THE CRIME DO THE TIME I DON’T CARE WHO THEY ARE.

i think justin just wants attention

  • Ameena1483

i agree he shoul go to jail i liked his songs not any more he is nothing but a show off

  • Ameena1483

yeah you should just kick his ass and dont take crap from anyone it does not matter who they are i think justin was looking for a fight

  • http://twitter.com/xivegotsunshine Anna

Violence is never the answer but I don’t think Justin was at fault here. I think if anyone is at fault its the legislature who allows stuff like this to happen to people all the time. Laws need desperately to be set up to protect everyone involved in situations like this especially when a car in involved.

Just because Justin and Selena are celebrities doesn’t mean that they deserved to be followed, blocked, and harassed everywhere they go by jerks who just want to make a few bucks off of them. They may be rich and famous and talented but they aren’t zoo animals.

  • Reppie

You must be one of those STINKING PAPS WHO ARE IN THE CELEBS’ FACE PROVOKING THEM. This time a kid was taken advantage of. He is suppose to be the adult. It’s not alright for a criminal to stop and block your way in a vehicle too. Don’t you know that there is a law that they aren’t suppose to do that. LA ought to enforce their laws better than what they are doing anyway. The LAPD doesn’t have a great rep anyway.
