Justin Bieber: Paparazzi Caused My ATV Accident and Arrest
Justin Bieber is pinning the blame for last week’s ATV accident and arrest on the paparazzi.
During his Canadian getaway with Selena Gomez, The Biebs’ vehicle collided with a minivan, leading to an altercation with the other driver and charges of assault and dangerous driving. On Tuesday, legal representatives for Bieber slammed the photographers they claim contributed to the incident.
“Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez’s peaceful retreat in Stratford this weekend was unfortunately disrupted by the unwelcome presence of paparazzi,” attorney Brian H. Greenspan says in a statement to Gossip Cop.
He adds, “This has regrettably resulted in charges of dangerous driving and assault. Mr. Bieber and Ms. Gomez have fully cooperated in the police investigation. We are hopeful that this matter will be quickly resolved.”
A second lawyer, Roy Black, says in a separate statement that Bieber, like many celebrities, has to deal with the paparazzi.
“Their privacy is shredded and these incidents can become dangerous,” says the attorney. “While the public is not particularly sympathetic, they must realize how difficult these cameramen make their lives.”
He continues, “So I am not surprised there is a conflict. It happens quite often, and as long as the paparazzi are highly paid for their photographs, they will continue.”
Bieber has agreed to appear in court in Ontario on September 29.
Last month, the pop star was involved in a fender-bender in Los Angeles while trying to avoid paparazzi. At the time, he remarked, “There should be laws against what I just experienced. We should have learned from the death of Princess Diana. I don’t have a problem with Paparazzi but when they act recklessly they put us all in danger.”
