Justin Bieber did NOT “warn” Selena Gomez against basing a character on him in her upcoming Lifetime series, despite a fabricated tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this story. We’re told it’s “not true.”

As Gossip Cop reported, Gomez is producing a Lifetime show that will be loosely inspired by some of her experiences as an up-and-coming actress-singer, but the show isn’t autobiographical. In Touch, however, wrongly refers to the series as a “biopic” before quoting a supposed source as saying, “As soon as Justin heard about the project, he called Selena and made it clear that he wants no part of this.”

The tabloid’s dubious insider further claims Bieber told her “she’d better not make any character resemble him,” because he’s allegedly “scared that she is going to portray him badly and make him look like a fool.” But Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who exclusively tells us no such conversation between Bieber and Gomez ever took place. We’re assured the magazine’s story is simply “not true.”

Regardless, Gomez’s relationship with Bieber will certainly not be among the plot lines of the fictionalized show, which focuses on “a group of girls navigating their coming-of-age story in the backdrop of Hollywood.”
