Justin Bieber Detained at LAX (UPDATED)
Justin Bieber was detained at Los Angeles International Airport as he tried to re-enter the United States after a trip to Asia on Thursday.
The Canadian pop superstar spent roughly four hours under questioning by U.S. immigration officials, before being permitted to leave the premises. Bieber was previously stopped by New Jersey customs authorities in January, upon returning from Canada.
At the time, the singer was flagged because of his two pending criminal cases, as the Patriot Act allows the government to monitor those traveling into the U.S. from another country if they have convictions or active cases. It was expected that Bieber would continue to have trouble entering the U.S. in the future as the cases remained open.
Gossip Cop has reached out to reps for the star, and will have updates. As we previously reported, Bieber had spent the past few days in Tokyo, where he apologized after visiting a shrine honoring Japanese war criminals.
Earlier on Thursday, the trial for the teen heartthrob’s Florida DUI case was delayed until July after his attorney asked for a postponement to further review evidence and contemplate a plea deal. Last week, the White House said it would decline to comment on petition to have Bieber deported due to the unresolved legal matters. What do you think of Bieber getting detained?
