Justin Bieber Assault Charges Dropped
The pop star and his entourage had been accused of striking the man in the back of the head during an argument in December 2013.
On Monday, his legal team announced that the charge was withdrawn by authorities in Ontario.
In a statement to Gossip Cop, Bieber’s attorney says, “Today we appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto at which time that charge was withdrawn at the request of the Crown.”
“We welcome the decision of the office of the Crown Attorney to withdraw the charge, having reached the conclusion that there was no reasonable prospect of conviction,” continues the lawyer.
The statement adds, “We have always maintained Mr. Bieber’s innocence. The withdrawal of the charge is the product of a thorough and thoughtful review of the evidence by responsible prosecutors. We thank them for their consideration.”
While Bieber is out of that legal predicament in Ontario, he still has to contend with assault and dangerous driving charges tied to an ATV accident last month.
