Julia Roberts Is People Magazine’s “Most Beautiful Woman” 2017
Julia Roberts is People’s “Most Beautiful Woman” for 2017. The official announcement was made by the magazine on Wednesday, honoring the actress for a record-breaking fifth time.
The Oscar-winner first appeared on the cover of the “World’s Most Beautiful” issue in 1991. She later graced the cover in 2000, 2005 and 2010. “I am very flattered,” she tells the publication. Inside the issue, Roberts opens up about her 14-year marriage to cinematographer Danny Moder, and speaks about rocketing to fame following the release of Pretty Woman. “People say, ‘Oh, when Pretty Woman came out it must have really changed your life,’ and it’s kind of become this joke, but the truth is I was out of town when Pretty Woman came out,” Roberts shares.
She continues, “I was in another movie in this tiny little town that was showing Star Wars in its first run. I remember reading… ‘Pretty Woman came out this weekend and made this much money’ and I thought, ‘Is that a lot of money? Is that good? Is that great?’ I didn’t really know.”
Roberts, who now holds the record for the most “World’s Most Beautiful” covers, teases her longtime friend George Clooney for winning People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” a mere two times. “I’m going to mention that in my Christmas card to the Clooneys this year,” she jokes. Previous “World’s Most Beautiful” winners include Sandra Bullock (2015), Lupita Wyong’o (2014), Gwyneth Paltrow (2013), Beyonce (2012), and Jennifer Lopez (2011). The issue, with Roberts full interview, hits newsstands Friday.
