Julia Roberts NOT In “$275 Million Divorce” Over Owen Wilson, Despite Report
Wednesday’s new cover of Star claims that Roberts and husband Danny Moder’s supposed divorce has “exploded,” and Wilson is to blame. Inside the magazine, a headline asks, “Julia Dumping Danny… For Owen?” It’s said, “After persistent rumors that her marriage is in trouble, the pretty woman gets close to a costar she’s been ‘crazy about for years.'”
“The star’s marriage to Danny Moder — which has been plagued by rumors of strife for the past two years — is unravelling, placing Julia in a gut-wrenching situation many believe will end in divorce,” writes the magazine. Amid the alleged troubles, it’s claimed Roberts doesn’t “need to look any further for her support than her costar” Wilson, with whom she’s been shooting the film adaptation of Wonder.
According to the outlet, “the budding relationship has become so serious that Julia and Danny are fighting about it, and the Oscar winner may be on the verge of pulling the plug on her 14-year marriage.” A so-called “set insider” is quoted as saying of Roberts and Wilson, “They’re constantly flirting, supporting each other, joking. It’s like they are a couple.”
And after Moder supposedly “confronted” her, the supposed source claims, “Julia has been confiding in Owen about her troubles with Danny… Until she figures out her situation at home, Owen will keep some healthy distance.” The alleged tipster goes on to assert, “At this point, there just might not be any way to save her marriage.”
So, where does the “$275 million divorce” figure in? That’s just what the tabloid speculates could happen, as the article acknowledges Roberts and Moder haven’t actually split. As Gossip Cop has pointed out numerous times, Star has a history for blaring “divorce” on its covers even though the stars in question aren’t actually divorcing (see below).
That’s exactly what’s going on here. Roberts and Moder aren’t in the midst of a breakup, and there’s certainly no love triangle with Wilson. The magazine simply resorted to a typical tabloid trick: Claiming there’s funny business going on between a married actress and her co-star. In fact, the outlet even ridiculously claims that Roberts might have recommended Wilson for their movie just so she could hook up with him.
Please. Star has been falsely claiming for years that Roberts and Moder are on the verge of a split, with one such cover touting a “$225 million divorce” in 2015. This nonsense about Wilson is just the magazine’s latest untrue angle. And, by the way, this is the same outlet that said Roberts was pregnant back in April. Funny how that’s not mentioned anywhere in this new cover story.
