Judd Apatow Reveals “Personal” Problem With Bill Cosby: “I Know One Of The Victims”
Judd Apatow reveals for the first time that his attacks against Bill Cosby stem from a “personal connection” to the rape allegations, as he knows one of the victims who claims to have been sexually abused by the legendary comic.
As Gossip Cop has reported, more than 40 women have come forward in recent months and accused Cosby of drugging and raping them. Cosby himself admitted in a recently released 2005 deposition to giving women Quaaludes before having sex with them.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Apatow says, “The Cosby thing I took seriously because I know one of the victims, who is not going to come forward. I had a personal connection to it, where somebody that I care about said that’s exactly how it went down.”
Apatow, perhaps the most vocal celebrity detractor of Cosby’s, urges others in the industry to speak out against the comic. And he hopes that the victims themselves will come forward as well. “If women don’t speak up, more women will be raped,” Apatow tells the magazine. “So it’s really all about preventing other people from getting hurt, because Cosby’s on tour — ignoring all of the victims is a signal to other victims that when you speak up, people will not take care of you and do something about it.”
While Apatow acknowledges that it’s hard for people to believe that the famous TV dad is guilty of such horrendous crimes, he notes, “At some point enough women came forward that the world knows this happened and that he is clearly some sort of sociopath.” What do you think about Apatow’s revelation that he knows one of Cosby’s alleged victims?
