This. I do not begrudge his talent, but he isn’t the style of singer that is going to be mainstream and on the radio. I would be lost trying to market him in today’s music world. On top of that, the judges helped write his ticket home. They should have been a little less up his butt and a little more appreciative of ALL of the contestants. That’s their job after all.

The problem is, these judges are too biased. Jennifer admitted to Joshua being her favorite. Steven Tyler just agrees to anything Jennifer says. Randy gets swayed by the other two. Honestly, a standing ovation by the judges don’t mean as much as it used to when Simon was in the group. That guy was hard to please so a standing O from him means a LOT.

Who said the most “powerful” (read loud and flamboyant) singers are the most talented? Phillip is a true artist – he hasn’t bowed before the face of possible fame and turned into someone he’s not like many do when they enter the recording arena. He is never boring, his songs don’t sound the same from show to show, and I believe he actually loves music for the sake of music. For these reasons, he should absolutely win. Jessica isn’t ready – she’s 16 and the win would eat her soul – she’s just too young and unprepared for what it would bring. I’m not saying she’s not talented, she absolutely is – she’s just not ready. She wasn’t ready when she was on America’s Got Talent, and she’s still not ready.

Phillip is a performer. But it take more than being a performer if you want to ear the title of an AMERICAN idol. He’s unique and interesting and fresh. He could make it as an artist alongside the likes of John Mayer or even Bruno Mars. But to be called an “AMERICAN” idol is just way out of his league. Obviously, you’re not a singer.

This is the last year that I will watch American Idol. There is no way Philip should have made the finale. He sound is bland and quite frankly he can’t sing. For what it’s worth, Joshua was hands down the complete package. This is what happens when you put someone’s future in the hand of America. Look at the past years of idol winners, every last one of those person’s who won basically turned out to be complete flops.
Most people can’t even remember who won last year, that’s just how terrible the majority of winners have been with the exception of a few who did win.

I kinda of thought Joshua would not win because of others (African Americans) who have won on the Voice, and Xfactor. No, you don’t want to throw in the race card, but it’s quite evident. Folks just couldn’t stand to see a black person winning all three singing reality shows. The two persons that are left on idol won’t have that great of a career. Jessica seems to be just copying the songs and the artists without putting any flare or creativity into it when she performs.

Phillip isn’t much of performer, but his voice is all right. The thing is, the style of his voice is popular now, especially among teenagers. But a soul singer, like Josh, with more passion than Jessica and Phillip combined, will always be considered an amazing singer, even if little teenagers are just looking for a cute, fresh new singer like Phillip. He lays it all out on the line, so does Jessica.

Even though I really want Jessica to win, and even though I voted for her 100+ times last night, America got it wrong and sent the wrong person home. Would’ve been an amazing finale with ledet and sanchez in it. I guess Phillip has to bring it hard next week or, I gotta say, Jessica Sanchez will be our next American Idol!

I’m surprised how many ppl complaining about his voice. I know locally (Sydney, Australia) as far as anyone i’ve spoken to they loved Joshua above the others. And i must say ‘American Idol’ here is dubbed one of the most annoying shows, but this year i watched because of Jessica and Joshua. I love Jessica, but i think Joshua should have won this by far. There are so many things going on in this world to be upset about.Why are some people taking this to such a crazy level?? Slandering ones talent against the other, jumping on the bandwagon, because your a different color than another. .I’m as Brown as Brown gets..it doesn’t matter whether their green.. they each have talent, all of this criticizing is a waste of time.. Be cool, each of them are great in their own way. Recently a local singer told me it’s really not the greatest to get picked because then the winner is pretty much owned by American Idol. The exposure is the biggest win for each of them…If they all sang like a lamb I wouldn’t watch the show either. But each of them have talent and each of them will do well.

The American Idol show is about popularity with the people. It is not about the whole package of a singer and a performer. No doubt if a blind man could see Joshua Ledet was the best singer and performer, the whole package. Jessica has a great voice but she is not a performer she needs some more development and Phillip can sing but he has the same rip which would become boring in a period of time. I looked back over the performances and each week Joshua blew it away the kind of singing that gets down in your bones. But you have to understand what SOUL is to appreciate it! But the good part is Joshua will get a record deal anyway! But with the two left I pulling for Jessica she has a very talented voice for 16. Also when u look back over the home visits Jessica and Phillip had more people come out to support them because of there locations. Joshua hometown was small! That’s why the show is call American Idol because the people decide if they like you because you are cute, sexy, skinny, too ugly, too fat, gay, etc!

Joshua has more talent in his little finger then either Jessica or Phillip have. Phillip has no stage presence at all and believe he is there because of the judges and young teens who think he is cute. Cute doesn’t make a singer and that he definately is not. He is boring and painful to watch. If I record the show, I fast forward thru his performance after listening for a short time. Every song sounds the same and just plain awful. Jessica is a dime a dozen but does have a good voice but no connection to the audience at all either. Joshua gave every performance his all and know he will be heard from lots in the future. As for Jessica and Phillip, they will be another Taylor Hicks or Lee DeWyze.

I was very surprised Josh went home, but then, after I had a chance to think about it, it made sense in a very weird, unpleasant way. It’s Fox, afterall. They weren’t going to let a gay guy win American Idol. Its the same thing they did to Adam Lambert, they just changed it up a little by making it happen at the Semi, rather than the Final. Have you ever thought for a moment that maybe the one thing that maybe swayed America to liking Phillip is because he “knows who he is”, he never intended on trying to sound like anyone else, but himself. He is a singer-songwriter, he has no interest in singing someone else’s songs, because he has his own. When he does sing someone else songs he doesn’t try to change them, that is how he hears them. He is extremely talented, or shall we say he has a God given ear for music. But I really think being comfortable in your own skin is the biggest draw.

The person who sounds best in recordings will win AI. Can you imagine listening to someone (on CD) screaming and screeching the songs instead of singing like Joshua did? He was eliminated because he oversang the songs, he did not know how to restrain his voice, even with ballads, there was screaming, but I blame the judges, because of their standing ovations, Joshua probably thought that screaming is always ok.

All these posts are missing the point really. AI is pretty much a “fixed” reality show. Yes, they finally had 5 talented true singers on the show this year, but as in every year, the “best” hands-down artist never wins because they’d be tied to a contract that would limit their career. So they always eliminate the best prior to the final show and the eliminated artist is offered a huge recording contract and makes it big in the industry (yes, they DO jam the phone lines to accomplish this). Typically, the voted “winner” never does quite make a splash after the show ends.
